A Million Little Things Review: Christmas Wishlist (Season 1 Episode 10)

A Million Little Things, Reviews

In a skillful blend of humor and tears, A Million Little Things Season 1 Episode 10, “Christmas Wishlist,” holds a series of truth-telling, and an answer to some of the questions, especially the mystery around Jon.

Following the long history of Christmas episodes on TV, A Million Little Things paints a picture of the holiday spirit, entangled in the web of drama of its characters.

As the title suggests, a few of the characters have some wishes, which Santa may or may not grant.

While Sophia wishes that Jon were alive to celebrate Christmas, Eddie wishes he would be around to celebrate Christmas, rather than go on tour. Rome, for his part, wishes that he could get back to being the man, rather than relying on Regina for care and support.

Sophia finds out that her mother, Delilah, is pregnant, but I don’t know if it is the doctor’s place to tell a stranger his patient’s business.

Although it ends well, Sophia could be an impostor, so why not just tell her where the patient is and move along, since all she asks is to know where her mom is? In my opinion, that revelation could have been done differently.

Speaking of revelations, Gary finally knows that Maggie has started chemo, just after Maggie finds out that Gary slept with Ashley because he is in love with her (Maggie). Really, Gary? In reality, this would be too lame an excuse but she buys it, and their interactions are very heartwarming, to say the least.

We now know that Jon is not the perfect man everyone thinks he is. We also know why he forbade his friends from sleeping with Ashley.

So far, it appears that Ashley, who we can comfortably call his mistress, knows so much about him that it will be mind-blowing when all the secrets are revealed.

This revelation about Jon is important to back up Delilah’s claim of his withdrawal from their marriage a while before his death. However, it is hard to say it justifies her affair with Eddie since they hurt Katherine in the process.

Through Ashley, we are introduced to Donnie, another character involved in Jon’s business, and so it appears that Jon may have hit a few roadblocks financially, and never opened up to his wife about it.

Getting an insight into the reality of Jon’s life has the ability to taint the pure image we have developed of him, making him a villain, and I don’t know if that is the intention here.

In the real world, Jon’s character is very relatable. Many of us lead double lives, appearing flawless on the outside while going through a myriad of issues in private.

While we still do not know why he committed suicide, the puzzle pieces are beginning to fall into place.

With Rome and Jon, we can make a few comparisons. Unlike Jon, Rome is opening up to his wife about his struggles. He is like the enhanced version of Jon in the sense that while he may not be sexually active with his wife, instead of seeking solace elsewhere, he is determined to find a solution to the problem. Like Jon, he is putting on a show in the presence of his friends, but at least, open to his wife.

There is still a lot to be discovered about Jon, and why he took his own life. But what is worrisome is how knowing about the “real” Jon will affect his friends, who have been living by his ideals and idolizing him.
