The actress announced the show’s return in a 21-second Twitter video (see below), but other news has been kept under wraps. The eight-episode revival will be released in summer 2019.

“Thank you to all the marshmallows for staying excited and to @Hulu for giving Veronica a chance to wear her big girl pants. I hope we’re still friends after I taser you,” Bell stated on Twitter.

In a 2017 interview, Bell stated her excitement over a potential Veronica Mars reboot. The last time any past Veronica Mars content was released was back in 2014, so naturally, fans (endearingly known as “marshmallows”) are ready for more.

This time, however, the show won’t be Kickstarted like the 2014 film, but fans have already proven their devotion. Bell and creator Rob Thomas raised $2 million in half a day and ended up raising $5 million for the creation of the film.

It will have been 12 years since the series ended in 2007 when the new season airs. A press release from the show reveals that Veronica and Mars Investigations will take on a whole new adventure when tourists are killed in her city of Neptune.

Bell is returning to her roots with this show — one that many regard as her launching point into many more acting roles. Bell currently stars as Eleanor Shellstrop on the critically acclaimed NBC comedy The Good Place alongside Ted Danson.
