Miranda Rae Mayo on Stellaride, the Upcoming Crossover, and More ‘Chicago Fire’ Season 7 Scoop [Exclusive Interview]

Chicago Fire, Interviews

What’s next for Stella and Severide? Who will we meet from Stella’s past? And who should we be worried about for the upcoming crossover?

Chicago Fire is back for Season 7 tonight on NBC, now airing alongside Chicago Med and Chicago P.D. for a full night of #OneChicago.

I recently had a few questions for Chicago Fire’s Miranda Rae Mayo about the upcoming season, #Stellaride, and what we can look forward to from the upcoming One Chicago crossover event.

Spoilers below!

Tell-Tale TV: All of the Chicago series are airing on one night this season. Why do you think that’s something fans will be excited about?

Miranda Rae Mayo: The fans I’ve talked to have said they are happy because it makes catching up on their favorite shows so much easier, which is awesome to hear. A woman I met is a nurse and a mother of three who told me, “Now I can just tell everyone Wednesday is my night off! It’s so much easier!”

Tell-Tale TV: We know we can look forward to a huge crossover event between the three shows this season. What can fans expect from that?

Mayo: I’m selfishly hoping it means Brett and Antonio get back together (#Brettonio) but fans can definitely expect more of the One Chicago family affected during an incident than ever before, especially because one of our firefighters goes down and we’re not sure if they’re gonna make it.

This crossover has very high stakes, so get ready for some craziness!

Tell-Tale TV: What three words would you use to describe the Season 7 premiere?

Mayo: Shocking. Frustrating. Sexy.

Tell-Tale TV: When we last saw Stella and Severide together, it looked like things were going well. How would you describe their relationship when we begin Season 7?

Mayo: We pick up right where we left off. Things are great between them. They’re just enjoying the good thing they both got going on.

Tell-Tale TV: What can you say about Gabby’s exit from the show? How is her exit going to affect Stella?

Mayo: Stella is understanding. She knows that people have to blaze their own trail and sometimes it makes sense to the people around them and sometimes it doesn’t. She is definitely concerned for her Captain though.

Tell-Tale TV: There’s also a new character heading to the firehouse. How would you describe the new paramedic? How will the other characters respond to her?

Mayo: Skilled, vivacious, and ballsy. At first, we’re unsure of what to expect. Her entrance at the firehouse is less than graceful, but it all comes down to how she reacts on the job so we don’t judge her too harshly.

Tell-Tale TV: I believe I read that someone from Stella’s past might be showing up this season. What can you tell us about that?

Mayo: Stella’s friend from high school comes to visit! She’s ecstatic to introduce the house to someone from her past who isn’t psychotic, but Severide has his own thoughts about him and thinks he may be hiding something.

Tell-Tale TV: Finally, what else can you tease about what fans can look forward to from the upcoming season?

Mayo: We have some people move up, we have some people break up, and we have some people come together. It’s full of twists and turns that you would never have seen coming.

Plus, more crossovers than we’ve ever had. I really think fans are going to enjoy what our crew has been working so hard on!

Be sure to catch Miranda Rae Mayo on Chicago Fire, airing Wednesdays at 9/8c this Fall on NBC.
