Killjoys Season 4 Finale Review: Sporemageddon (Season 4 Episode 10)
On Killjoys Season 4 Episode 10, “Sporemageddon,” Aneela gets to meet the members of Team Awesome Force, and it goes exactly how you think it would — delightfully.
Aneela interacting with everyone is the main source of levity for the hour. The fact that she refers to Johnny as “Johnny favorite” is adorable.
Her time with everyone is brief, sadly. It makes you wish there was an entire episode of just that, but at least we see her science it up with Zeph. Can you imagine if the two of them worked on an experiment together? It would’ve been ridiculously entertaining.
Zeph: Has the testosterone made you all into raging assholes, or did I just miss something?
Aneela: Men need to fight. It gives them meaning and us entertainment.
Strangely enough, undoing the body swap isn’t a huge ordeal. Then again, everything involving the green is a bit weird. It looks like Dutch is back in her own body as soon as she leaves the green.
It’s frustrating that no one questions whether or not that’s really Aneela as they escape the green. Seriously, have we not spent all season long witnessing The Lady’s skill at impersonating people and badass fighting skills?
Yes, they are all running for their lives, but Dutch should have known better. Johnny or D’av should have been questioning it.

Considering how top notch this season has been, this slip up is disappointing, especially when it’s something so stupid you would’ve never thought our trio would do.
The Lady escaping does set up a fascinating premise for Season 5 — it’s like an alternate universe, and it’s going to be thrilling exploring everyone’s new lives and how they come together to stop The Lady.
Of course, she would decide to be a child in this new world; it’s right up her creepy alley.

Still, this can’t be the end for Aneela. It’s anti-climatic.
Aneela isn’t everyone’s favorite person, but it’s safe to say that she grew on a lot of people over the course of this season. This is how she dies?
Khlyen is creepily standing over her shoulder, but he is lurking in the shadows, unseen by Aneela. There’s no emotional reunion there. Speaking of Khlyen, what is the meaning behind the red box he leaves for her?
Zeph: How do I get over this, Pree?
Pree: Oh sweetheart, you don’t. Life isn’t about getting over or letting go, just moving ahead because there’s nothing behind you but shadows.
There’s no emotional impact of Aneela’s death, so hopefully this means either we will feel all the pain from it sometime next season, or she’s somehow not actually dead.
She knows how to escape the green. The Lady strikes a deal with her because of that skill, so it can’t be too farfetched to think that Aneela makes it out.
But she would’ve had to escape from the green pool that she entered through…forgive me, I’m theorizing here. Hoping Aneela escapes is a long shot, but it’s done because this can’t be the way she goes out. She deserves better.

If she’s supposed to die, then that’s fine, but she deserves a good death. Don’t you agree?
Speaking of the final season, it’s going to be trippy, and I’m so excited.
It’s a cool choice to immediately transition from The Lady’s hand reaching through the green to this new world. There’s no preamble. We are just all of a sudden in it.
My father told me a story once about a family that got lost in the woods. They left breadcrumbs to mark their paths, so they would never forget their way home. But a monster lived in those woods, and one by one it ate everything they left behind.
Thankfully, it appears as if The Lady hasn’t found Jaq yet, which much mean that he’s still safe along with Delle Seyah. Best guess is The Lady only has control over those she has met, meaning those on Westerley affected by the virus and those on the Armada.
