Younger Review: The End of The Tour (Season 5 Episode 3)
Younger Season 5 Episode 3 “The End of The Tour,” throws us for quite a loop on the emotional roller coaster that this show has become and we don’t want to get off this ride anytime soon.
LIZA AND CHARLES AND PAULINE
So when I said last week that I just wanted Charles and Liza to talk to each other and confront this issue, Younger did not let me down. While Charles’ anger with Liza and his feelings of betrayal are real and understandable, his reaction to Liza’s lie is becoming increasingly hard to watch.
Now that Charles knows the truth it has changed everything about the way he acts and the way he treats the people around him. He’s cold and harsh and ready to explode.
While I can’t say I’d react any differently, it is making it hard for me to like Charles.

The confrontation on “The End of The Tour” is certainly the start of fixing their relationship but they’ve got a lot of work to do before they’ll ever be able to heal what they have.
I love that Liza is whip-smart enough to know exactly what he’s figured out. Charles has plenty of questions but in his emotional state, he doesn’t allow Liza to really explain anything. I want to see Liza get that opportunity to show him who she really is.
In spite of the web of lies Liza has created, Younger still has me rooting for her. I want her to succeed, I want her to be happy, and valued for her good work, and loved for who she is.
But Younger‘s entire story rests on her lie, is there any way for her to have those things without coming clean to everyone?
I’m growing increasingly fond of Pauline and I’m so nervous to see how she takes the revelation that Liza was the other woman Charles fell in love with. Her arc in this episode ends in a way I didn’t see coming, but her choice, to tell the truth, is exactly what she should have done.
Pauline does her best to keep a happy face for her book tour while mourning her marriage at the same time. She fails miserably, but when she sees Charles at the end of the tour, instead of burrowing further into the lie, she tells the truth and wraps it in a pretty bow that will still sell her book.

It’s a bold move and one I’m proud of her for making. It endears her further to the audience and establishes her as more than Charles’ soft, sad ex-wife. She’s a talented author and she believes in happy endings, and I hope she finds the one she deserves.
I also love that she points out that Charles is far from perfect too. I think that he’s perhaps been blinded to his own faults and failures by his feelings about Liza and the truth. So it is really satisfying to see her remind him that they’re all human.
KELSEY AND ZANE AND JAKE
Kelsey has a love triangle of her own brewing, and if this were any other show I would probably roll my eyes at the entire concept. But it’s Younger and better than any other show I’ve seen, they’ve proven that love triangles are kind of their specialty. And it works.
Not only does Kelsey now have two gorgeous and talented men pursuing her, but Jake’s entry into the story both pushes she and Zane closer together, while also complicating things with his own interest in her.

No offense to Liza, but something tells me that Kelsey is going to have a much easier time playing this game. Zane and Jake aren’t too incredibly different, and either of them could be a good match for her. Let’s just hope she doesn’t let either one of them become a threat to her career.
Will Kelsey get herself into a tangle of lies like Liza? Or can she juggle both of them and the complexities of personal/work relationships with ease?
OTHER THOUGHTS:
- I hate that Charles thinks Liza lies about everything now. I get it, but it hurts my heart.
- Is Josh still in love with Liza? Is Lauren right? Are they meant to be together? I loved their relationship, but I’m starting to doubt that there’s hope for them romantically.
- Josh being a consummate romantic is so heartwarming even as he’s trying to wish it away. I JUST WANT EVERYONE ON THIS SHOW TO GET THEIR HAPPY ENDING.
