Empire Review: Bloody Noses and Crack’d Crowns (Season 4 Episode 17)
On Empire season 4 episode 17, “Bloody Noses and Crack’d Crowns,” it’s finally looking like there might be light at the end of the Eddie tunnel.
Please let there be light at the end of the Eddie tunnel.

At this point, I’m pretty confident that the Eddie storyline has run its course. So why is he still hanging around?
Cookie’s plan to buy back Empire Records is a good one. Although the list of celebs they contact for fundraising is a bit… um… extreme.
More importantly, it’s a great way to end this nonstop carousel of randos trying to take over Empire Records.
I think we’d all like to see that stop.

Eddie’s last ditch effort to stop this from happening (and to get Lucious into legal trouble yet again) means one thing and one thing only to me.
It’s time for Lucious to kill Eddie.
You heard me. I know I’ve been preaching about Lucious changing his ways and growing and whatever but… screw that.
The old Lucious needs to just take care of this issue. He’s killed for less, so what’s even the big deal at this point?
If he doesn’t — we suffer. I really don’t want to watch any more episodes where Eddie and Anika come up with weird plans to take over the company.

Either they need to do it, or Lucious needs to kill Eddie.
Maybe he should kill Anika, too.
Am I being harsh? Maybe.
But I’m just really over this storyline. With it gone, Empire would have room to explore other things again. Things that interest me more.
Basically, any time the board starts getting discussed, I get bored.
Sorry, but it’s true.
Moreover, other storylines seem to be falling to the wayside in service to the Eddie debacle. For example. Anonymous manages to be anonymous for, what… two episodes?
When does Jamal get an actually compelling story again?

I almost — almost got excited for a minute there seeing Andre take the lead on taking down Eddie.
It would have been great if that had actually happened. We would have gotten rid of Eddie and gotten Andre back in the Lyons’ good graces in one fell swoop.
But, alas, Andre has more work to do.
Speaking of the sons, Hakeem’s girlfriend/not girlfriend is a strange distraction. She sings now? And did Tiana really think he was taking about her?? Come on, Tiana.
Someone help this girl make decisions for herself.

Although Eddie is still around, I’m cautiously optimistic that he’s pushed Lucious too far. If the Lyons have exhausted all legal ways to win, it’s it time to try something new?
Shouldn’t we (I can’t believe I’m saying this) get Thirsty involved?

Something’s got to give.
