Shadowhunters: Top 7 Moments from “Stronger Than Heaven” (Season 3 Episode 5)
All the ships are having some serious conversations! One is thinking about moving one, one seems to be just starting their relationship, and another one faces a dark and painful future.
Here are seven of our favorite moments from Shadowhunters Season 3 Episode 5 “Stronger Than Heaven.”
1.Clary and Jace Try to Solve His Blackouts
Jace and Clary are being very mature in how they’re attempting to solve what’s going on with his blackouts and what could be behind them. Their conversation is measured and rational, and the fact that they’re approaching this together is a prime example of how couples should tackle problems.
2. Alec Wants to Move In with Magnus

HARRY SHUM JR., MATTHEW DADDARIO
Things are complicated when you’re dating an immortal, huh? Alec does have a point if he’s spending so much time there, but I also understand where Magnus is coming from. He’s an immortal and he’s done this before.
Still, Alec could be a little more delicate when broaching the topic of moving in with Magnus, like perhaps asking for a drawer to put some of his shirts?
3. Simon Finds Out Kyle’s Secret

CHAI HANSEN
I think we can all agree that no one likes being lied to, and finding out that your roommate is actually a werewolf is probably on the top of that list. Can you really blame Simon for feeling betrayed and attempting to get away from the honey trap?
4. Izzy Goes on a Date
Izzy finally goes on a date with her new doctor friend. The date is a little awkward, but the scene after the scuffle with one of Lilith’s demons is sweet. This relationship may be just beginning, but I already find myself hoping that this guy isn’t evil or secretly plotting her demise.
5. Magnus’s Box of Momentos

MATTHEW DADDARIO, HARRY SHUM JR.
There’s often a moment in relationships where you discover that one person may be holding a secret. I have to applaud the way the scene where Alec confronts Magnus about the box containing momentos of his ex-lovers is written.
It could have easily gone straight to jealousy, but Alec gave Magnus a chance to explain. One thing about fantasy shows like Shadowhunters is that they often give you ways to think about things like memory. In Magnus’s case, even though he looks young, his memory isn’t the best, and it makes sense he would want to keep a box of mementos around.
6. Clary Summons an Angel
It feels like a bit of a letdown after all the fuss about summoning an angel being dangerous. Ithuriel is a very benevolent creature who isn’t mad at Clary at all, but even as the scene is happening, it’s clear that something is too good to be true.
Of course, just when the angel is about to spill some tea about Lilith he gets killed, by Lilith. To be honest, we all should have seen that one coming. Was Lilith’s identity really going to be revealed that quickly?
7. Lilith Gives Jace an Anti-Love Potion

DOMINIC SHERWOOD
Lilith wins the war over Jace, for now, when she slips him an anti-love potion that makes him a shell of his former self. Clace fans, this is going to put a wrench in things and to be honest, it’s one hell of a way to end an episode that largely centered around Clary trying to save Jace.
