Victoria Konefal Talks ‘Days of Our Lives’ [Exclusive Interview]

Interviews, Pinned

Versatile actress Victoria Konefal has showcased her talents with Lifetime original movies The Wrong Crush and Deadly Exchange, as well as with a guest appearance on Modern Family.

Now, she stars as Ciara Brady, a role previously played by Vivian Jovanni, on the daytime soap opera Days of Our Lives.

I had a few questions for Konefal about her role on Days of Our Lives, how she got her start in acting, what’s next for Ciara, and more.

Tell-Tale TV: When did you first decide you wanted to start acting? What led to that decision?

Victoria Konefal: I knew I wanted to pursue acting at a young age. I was seven when my school had a field trip to see an off-Broadway production of The Hobbit, and I was so taken by the performance.

I knew that’s what I wanted to do. I ended up being with the production center for six years.

Tell-Tale TV: Do you have an audition story that stands out as particularly memorable? If so, what is it?

Konefal: I was auditioning for Modern Family. The audition was really early and far from where I lived. I was having one of those rough mornings where nothing seemed to go right, and I was running late.

I run to my car and just like clockwork, I’m out of gas. I get to the nearest gas station and to this day I still can’t recall exactly what happened, but it seemed like a spring must have been faulty in the pump because it sprayed gasoline all over my body.

I ran into the restroom and tried to clean up as much possible, but it’s gasoline! It’s not like you can get it out with toilet paper and hand sanitizer… I washed my pants in the sink, dried them with the hand dryer and made my way to Fox Studios. The producers thought the situation was hilarious, as frazzled as I was, and I ended up booking the job!

Tell-Tale TV: What was it like joining the cast of Days of Our Lives?

Konefal: It is such an honor to be part of this cast. I love every second of it. We are truly a team, and I feel blessed to be a part of this work environment.

Tell-Tale TV: Was it difficult stepping into a role that was previously played by someone else?

Konefal: I did my best to not approach the situation with that mindset. I wanted to make the character authentically mine, rather than focus on the actress who played it before me.

Tell-Tale TV: What’s the most important thing you’ve learned from working on Days of Our Lives so far?

Konefal: The most important thing I’ve learned is, you can never learn too much. As you go through life you encounter new experiences and hopefully take something away from them. There is always new information to absorb. Never think that you are done learning.

Tell-Tale TV: If you could give Ciara one piece of advice, what would it be?

Konefal: To not take life so seriously. Things happen that we cannot control, and the best thing to do is to accept whatever situation it may be and learn to grow from it, as opposed to lashing out and relying on closing yourself off to prevent yourself from getting hurt.

Tell-Tale TV: Is there anything you can tease about what’s coming up for Ciara?

Konefal: I can’t say much, but I will say that Ciara’s love life is heating up and we should be expecting a steamy romance soon.

Tell-Tale TV: Do you have any other upcoming projects you’d like to tell us about?

Konefal: I’m limited with the number of projects I can film while I’m in contract with Days, so as of now I don’t have anything lined up. But my team is working on it!

Tell-Tale TV: When you aren’t busy working, how do you like to spend your time?

Konefal: Getting in touch with nature is really important to me, so you can usually find me hiking in the mountains or camping out on the beach.

I love to travel, even if it’s just driving a few hours south to get to San Diego for the weekend. I love switching up my scenery, so I’m pretty much all over the place.

Tell-Tale TV: What’s something fans might be surprised to learn about you?

Konefal: I took a road trip from New York City to California during the worst snowstorm of the decade! It wasn’t my intention to; I knew that it was incredibly dangerous.

I was planning to outdrive the storm but it caught up to me and forced me to drive for 23 hours straight on my first night! Don’t try that at home, kids.

Be sure to catch Victoria Konefal on Days of Our Lives, airing weekdays on NBC.
