The Mick Review: The Car (Season 2 Episode 18)

On The Mick Season 2 Episode 18, “The Car,” the gang is delivering classic one-liners left and right.

I’ve gotta say, this is one of my favorite episodes of The Mick of all time. Does that surprise you?

It’s not brilliant or mind-blowing. It’s not full of shocking twists or even notably clever moments. Aside from Mickey getting stuck in the cop car seat (and banging her head into the same cop car), it doesn’t even have as much of its usual physical comedy.

In fact, many episodes of The Mick do a better job with all of those things.

“The Car,” though, is just really freakin’ funny. Of course Jimmy buys a $900 cop car. Of course Ben gets stuck in it. Of course it rolls into a pond.

Chip, too, is really growing on me. He is the perfect loser high schooler trying to impress his older sister’s friends. It’s fun that he has unlimited resources to do so.

Oh and Alba. I love Alba. It’s great that she’s full-on playing Chip and Sabrina against each other to make money. I love that she’s always the mastermind of the diabolical plans they come up with.

I also love that Mickey hates the internet. Of course she does.

The only thing I don’t really get about “The Car” is what’s going on with Jimmy and Gary. It feels like this scenario keeps building and building, but then ultimately comes to nothing. Maybe we are still going to see more of Gary?

I typically jot down my favorite one-liners from each episode and with “The Car” I never put my pen down. The plot itself of “The Car” isn’t anything special, but the dialogue… oh man.

So, without further comment, here are my favorite lines from one of the best episodes of The Mick thus far:

• “Alright, well, if living in the real world is senile, then I’m Liza Minnelli” – Mickey
• “Are you sure he isn’t a fresh new murderer coming over to turn your skin into a cape?” – Mickey
• “A day with you is way more dangerous than anything online” – Sabrina
• “You catfished your sister?” – Alba
• “Yeah, sure, Mr. Robot – go ahead and drive your little golf cart back to the future” – Jimmy
• “I’m just reflecting on all the choices that landed me here” – Mickey
• “So, I want you to close your eyes and help me take off my bra” – Mickey
• “Oh yeah, Chip is very racist” – Alba
• “Oh, well I’m sure Marcus could show you where to put it” – Sabrina
• “Marcus didn’t DM you well wishes when you had your wisdom teeth out” – Chip
• “I had to take my bottoms off to beat the heat” – Mickey
• “I’m mostly nude in the back of a cop car about to drown with a young boy” – Mickey
• ” I was hot, I was bored… I like drama” – Alba
