The Big Bang Theory: Top Moments from The Athenaeum Allocation (Season 11 Episode 17)

Reviews, The Big Bang Theory

On The Big Bang Theory Season 11 Episode 17, “The Athenaeum Allocation,” Sheldon and Amy try to make a decision about their wedding location while Howard and Bernadette struggle with deciding whether one of them should stay at home with the kids.

“The Athenaeum Allocation” has some good moments, but when looking at the season as a whole it, unfortunately, doesn’t take a spot among the best episodes of the season so far.

Nevertheless, here are my top moments from “The Athenaeum Allocation.”

Sheldon and Amy decide on a wedding date

Probably one the biggest moments in the history of The Big Bang Theory is getting nearer — Sheldon Cooper is going to get married.

As Amy and Sheldon reveal their wedding date it is also made known that there are only two months left until the big day and they still don’t have a location.

I bet people in the wedding business would roll their eyes at their unpreparedness — it seems just silly not to secure a location before agreeing to a wedding date. Nevertheless, I am very much looking forward to the wedding and can’t wait to see what kind of twists and turns will take place before the actual wedding.

The actual location of the wedding is still somewhat clouded in mystery as it seems like Sheldon and Amy change their mind by the end of the episode. I hope the upcoming episodes will focus on more wedding preparations since watching Sheldon preparing for something so monumental is absolutely fascinating to watch.

Seeing Bernadette and Howard as parents

I wrote about Bernadette and Howard last week and speculated how their relationship will be portrayed now that they are parents to two young children.

I didn’t really say in which ways I would like to see them portrayed, but now that I’ve seen “The Athenaeum Allocation” I can say The Big Bang Theory pretty much nailed it because the kind of storyline it focuses on is exactly what I wanted to see.

The discussions Howard and Bernadette have about the possibility of staying at home, the love they feel for their children, and so on are ones a lot of parents have probably gone through. Those moments feel real and honest and thus become the best moments of the episode as a whole.

I also LOVE the fact that Bernadette’s desire to go back to work is treated so well. I definitely want to see more of Bernadette as a great mother and a talented professional on the upcoming episodes.

Leonard and Sheldon spend some time together

Wedding preparations, babies, and more have meant that there has been less screentime on the show dedicated to Sheldon and Leonard. Since I love their friendship it was great to see more of them together on “The Athenaeum Allocation.”

Seeing Leonard coming through for Sheldon and trying to secure him the wedding location of his dreams (well, his dream wedding location would be Mars, but securing that would be kind of impossible) warms my heart. I already feel kind of emotional about the idea of hearing Leonard speak at the wedding.
