Lethal Weapon Review: The Odd Couple (Season 2 Episode 17)
On Lethal Weapon Season 2 Episode 17, “The Odd Couple,” Murtaugh and Riggs living together is as hilarious as you’d expect. It’s surprising that they didn’t kill each other during their time as roommates/cellmates.
Even more fun than learning about Riggs’ descriptions for various sides of Murtaugh — Sarcastic Murtaugh and Game Show Murtaugh — is seeing how this affects everyone else in the precinct.
It’s a shame we don’t get to see more of Riggs’ sessions with Cahill where he just vents about Murtaugh. You know what, we should have had couples counseling! Come on, we need that kind of hilarity in our lives.

Can you imagine Cahill trying to keep Riggs and Murtaugh on topic and focused during a session? That’s comedy gold right there.
Aside from the beginning, Murtaugh and Riggs’ latest disagreements and issues aren’t the focus of the hour. It’s about getting couples back together.
As entertaining as Murtaugh and Riggs’ fights can be, it’s nice that this isn’t the focus because it’s nothing new. They can fight over the smallest thing, and they often do.

Murtaugh trying to “win” his argument with Trish isn’t something we see every week, so it’s more enjoyable to watch.
The fact that Trish’s business deal is connected to the case of the week makes things even better. More Trish is always a good thing.
Here are Roger Murtaugh’s patented steps to save a marriage:
- Get Yourself Kicked Out of the House
- Sabotage Your Wife’s Big Business Deal
- Sabotage Your Wife’s Second Chance at Closing the Deal
- Jump Aboard a Moving Plane to Save Your Wife
- Jump Out of a Crashing Plane
He gets off to a rocky start, but he ends up back at home.
What’s interesting is that we don’t see Trish take any steps to repair things. Yes, her big business deal is on the line, taking up most of her focus, but it still would have been nice to see Trish do a little bit more besides yell at Murtaugh and check in with Avery.

We see during her breakfast with Avery that she misses Murtaugh, but we don’t see any of her game plan as far as winning the war.
One of the reasons why their fight was so funny on Lethal Weapon Season 2 Episode 16 is because both Trish and Murtaugh were involved. Murtaugh did something to get back at Trish, and then Trish fired right back.
Murtaugh: If this goes south tonight, I may be living with your forever.
That’s what this hour is missing, Trish getting more involved in the fight. It’s all one-sided with everyone telling Murtaugh to apologize, and them Murtaugh trying to win his way back into his house. What did you think of the conclusion of Trish v. Murtaugh?

Molly’s back, finally!
Now, the food truck, Good Golly Miss Molly, comes out of nowhere. Seriously, did we know she was a chef?
Still, Molly is a sight for sore eyes, and she brings the subject of Riggs’ dad back to the forefront. We haven’t really focused on him in a while, and it will be interesting to see where this ends up going.
If dealing with Riggs’ father is the only way we get Molly back in our lives, and Riggs’, then I’m all for it.
