ABC Renews ‘The Good Doctor’ for Season 2!
The Good Doctor is here to stay, for a little bit longer. ABC announced today that the hit medical drama was renewed for a second season.
The Good Doctor has garnered much praise in its freshman season making it one of the top-rated shows on primetime. With an average of 10 million viewers tuning in each week, the show has become ABC’s highest viewed program this year.

“The Good Doctor’s message of inclusiveness resonates with our viewers and is a hallmark of what we aim to accomplish here at ABC,” said Channing Dungey, president, ABC Entertainment.
“This series has quickly joined the zeitgeist and broken records in the competitive television landscape. We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Shaun Murphy will be back for another season,” Dungey continued.

The show centers on a young surgeon, Shaun Murphy, with autism, played by Freddie Highmore. The medical drama sets itself apart from the likes of ABC’s other hit, Grey’s Anatomy, by focusing on how Shaun Murphy’s differences make him similar to his colleagues.
We can’t wait to see what Shaun, Claire, Glassman, Melendez, and Andrews have in store for fans in the coming season.
The Good Doctor airs Mondays at 10/9c on ABC!
