The Mick Review: The Juice (Season 2 Episode 15)
On The Mick Season 2 Episode 15, “The Juice,” things are getting athletic.
Because of the holidays and the Olympics, it feels like The Mick hasn’t been on in months. Which is why it’s disappointing that “The Juice” is a mediocre episode at best.
It’s not bad. It’s kinda funny. But it isn’t everything The Mick can be.
And that’s a bummer because I’ve been missing The Mick.

I like that this episode is about sports. I like that Jimmy gets beat up by a soccer team. I like that Sabrina suddenly has a girlfriend. I like that Jimmy’s obsession with saving that girlfriend’s soccer career collides with Mickey teaching Chip and his friend how to gamble. I like that Mickey is in over her head as usual. I like everything Alba is doing.
I like that when Sabrina gets dumped for the second time it almost, almost, feels like she’s going to grow and learn. Instead she opts to break up with Alexis as though Alexis didn’t just break up with her.

Classic Sabrina.
It’s also hilarious when she tells Alexis she knows it’s about being petite.
It’s hard, then, to say what I don’t like. On paper, this seems like it should be a great episode.
I guess it all just doesn’t land as well as usual. Everything just feels a little flat.
Or – it’s because Ben is absent.
I think we all know that I’m obsessed with Ben. His three seconds on screen are hilarious. He’s just so good. But maybe that’s not enough. This show works best when all components are present and Ben is a big component.

Although “The Juice” isn’t my favorite episode, it does have some bright spots.
For one, Alba gaslighting herself with the Colonel is pretty clever. She plays the slightly psychotic investigator well.
Mickey commits hard to her desperation when she realizes Chip’s friend bet $100,000 instead of $100. It’s great.
It’s also great that this kind of mixup could happen.
Sabrina’s shirt is pretty cute, too.

As usual, though, the brightest spots of “The Juice” are cast one-liners:
- “Stop labeling me, you ancient bag of sand” – Sabrina to Mickey
- “As a rule, don’t watch me” – Sabrina to Jimmy
- “If I wanted your dad’s money, there are other ways to get it” – Mickey to Chip’s dumb friend
- “We don’t want to be anywhere near that kid when the Russians come calling” – Sabrina to Chip
- “Because Sabrina is putting her own interests above America” – Jimmy
- When Jimmy calls Sabrina a “locker room lizard”
- “I should probably elevate this to your aunt” – Jimmy
- “I don’t know, stick it in his coat pockets” – Mickey’s solution to getting the 100k back
- “Natalie, that’s good physicality” – Jimmy to Natalie as she attacks him
