Lethal Weapon Review: An Inconvenient Ruth (Season 2 Episode 15)
On Lethal Weapon Season 2 Episode 15, “An Inconvenient Ruth,” no one is acting like themselves — Bowman’s becoming a little too fluent in how the dark web operates, Riggs believes he has lost his edge, and Murtaugh is living life crazily and dangerously.
All of this makes for an entertaining hour. There’s something about watching people who are a little off their game that’s captivating.
Admittedly, Bowman’s trip down the dark web is a bit worrisome. It’s played off as humor, but he admits to crossing several lines, including treason, potentially.

Now, seeing as he is a detective, you would hope there would be some repercussions or at least a stern talking to from Avery. Instead, he gets a pat on the back from Riggs, and life moves on.
Hopefully, this is something Bowman will never do again, and it’s a good bet considering how miserable he looks all throughout the case.
Murtaugh: That is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard.
Riggs: Really, the most ridiculous? Did you hear the one about the guy who got stuck on a slide for an hour and a half? Because that was pretty crazy.
It’s nice to spend some time focusing on Bowman though.
We still don’t know much about him other than he’s the poster boy for the LAPD. So even though we witness Bowman’s descent into criminal activity, it’s fun and introduces us to a very stressed out side of Bowman.
What did you think of Bowman’s illegal activity? Are you surprised by his actions?

Ruthie is definitely the MVP of the hour.
She is sarcastic, doesn’t care what anyone says or thinks about her, and is pretty good at extorting people. Riggs finally meets his match, and it’s hilarious to watch.
There’s something funny about Riggs not being able to say no to Ruthie. She gets an expensive stay at a hotel out of Riggs, which is impressive. You can totally picture Riggs acting like Ruthie when he gets older, right?
Ruthie: Until you let go of everything else, all that pain you hold on to, you’ll never be free.
However, the best part about Ruthie is that she does her best to help Riggs with his sobriety. She’s been in his shoes, and she’s trying to get him to a healthier state.
Riggs believing that his sobriety has caused him to lose his edge isn’t the craziest thing you’ve ever heard, which is why Riggs believes that there’s a chance that it’s true. He doesn’t slip up, but he comes close.

This is a decent progression to Riggs asking Murtaugh for help on Lethal Weapon Season 2 Episode 14.
Riggs’ decision to get sober isn’t swept under the rug and forgotten about. We’re watching his progress, and we’re watching him struggle.
Staying sober is not going to be an easy task. Riggs’ freakout over losing his edge is a fun and unexpected way to show Riggs’ path to sobriety. We could have jumped straight to him falling off the wagon, but this way is a lot more entertaining.
Murtaugh: Riggs, you don’t need booze to be crazy.
Riggs: This coming from a guy who thought he could fit in a slide.
It’s a shame we didn’t get to see Riggs’ attempt at attending AA. Odds are it was hilarious, and he probably made an enemy or two.
I look forward to seeing Riggs’ continued journey towards being a sober and mentally healthy human being, and I think Ruthie might just be the key. She could be his sponsor!
We need more of Ruthie in our lives, as does Riggs. What do you think?
