Good Behavior Review: And I Am A Violent Criminal (Season 2 Episode 9)
On Good Behavior Season 2 Episode 9, “And I Am A Violent Criminal” things get a lot better for Letty and Javier…right before they get much, much worse.
Letty finds herself stranded and at rock bottom, which brings about another great opportunity for her to bond with Christian. Like Good Behavior Season 2 Episode 7 “Don’t Thank God, Thank Me,” Letty’s relationship with Christian is put on display.
What comes out of their latest road trip is just how unflinching Christian’s support in Letty is. Even without knowing what happened with Javier or knowing her mother, Christian has always been there for Letty.

The series starts with Christian working as Letty’s parole officer, so access to her past information seemed implied. It’s fascinating to watch him learn more about Letty, and it’s heartwarming to him stand up for Letty to Estelle.
Good Behavior is full of times where Letty has used and upset people who care for her. Even if she meant well, at least some of the time, it’s enough to negatively impact ties, but that’s not the case when it comes to Christian.
It seems fitting that Letty would work her way back from rock bottom with Christian.
Letty’s journey back to her life includes some powerful moments with Estelle. Their very tense mother-daughter is central to understanding Letty, so it is always nice when Good Behavior explores their relationship.

During their exchange when Christian tries to drop Letty at Estelle’s, things seem to be different. Letty does not expect her mother to take her in and fix everything this time, but Estelle gives her daughter shoes because she cares about her.
When Letty gets a phone call later in the day from Estelle because Jacob is acting up, the two seem to reach the next stage in their relationship. Their warm exchange about Letty’s childhood feels like they have finally put the past behind, at least for now.
Both of these moments are important because they feel like momentum on Letty’s part. She is taking responsibility for her actions, which may be a small step forward, but is a huge difference from where she was when Good Behavior started.

While on Good Behavior Season 2 Episode 8, some of Javier’s emotional beats did not feel earned, every ounce of Letty’s reunion with him is. After watching both of them struggle separately, their reunion is better than I could have hoped for.
Their reunion is warm, heart-warming, and the highlight of the episode.
Javier takes care of Letty and cleans her up, which shows the pair at their rawest and also most tender. They have honest conversations about their relationship. In fact, the couple is at the most promising, and the future seems bright.
Then, Teo, the archenemy Javier apparently never knew about and Good Behavior viewers never asked for, shows up. Fortunately, we finally find a use for him.

After a season of building up this enemy, it is a nice surprise to have him create an opportunity to push Letty’s story forward. Bad luck turns Letty’s prospective bright future with Javier into a horror show in a second.
Letty takes a life, an event that could bring her closer to Javier or rip them apart. While she knows what it’s like to kill someone, the reality that Javier chooses to kill could terrify her.
Good Behavior has spent some significant time on Letty’s feelings about Javier’s jobs, and this event could take that thread into a new stage.
It definitely sets the stage for an epic Good Behavior season finale.
