Alison had a bit of an identity crisis in the show’s final season, realizing that although she had created a life for herself, it wasn’t necessarily one that played into the conspiracy of the show. She disappeared for a while searching for something, and then came back a new person.

Even if Neolution and Dyad weren’t after her specifically, she still felt a connection to her sisters that kept her going.

And in the end, she still made herself known and relevant. The closing scene where she is learning to play the keyboard while Donny shakes his booty playfully to the song is a vision of how alive Alison is.

20. Princess Margaret  (The Crown)
The Crown Season 2 Episode 4

Princess Margaret is a tragic character, and part of that tragedy is that her heartbreak and even her happiness are ignored; swept aside to make room for the trials and triumphs of The Queen and her monarchy.

She has to find her own way in her limited, albeit privileged, world, and it is refreshing to see how she tests the waters and pushes the boundaries. Margaret’s spirit may be trampled on time and time again, but it is never broken.

21. Wynonna Earp (Wynonna Earp)

Even as the lead character in Wynonna Earp, Melanie Scrofano proves that she’s not to be underrated by showing that pregnancy does not stop her from being a bad ass heroine.

Wynonna Earp in Wynonna Earp Season 2 surprised us all with a pregnancy announcement and then proceeded to take down two formidable foes. She demonstrated uncompromising resilience, compassion, and a hell of a lot of heart as she battled some of her biggest demons.

Wynonna Earp has been underestimated pretty much her entire life, but as she comes into her own as the Earp heir. We get to see more and more of the qualities that we most admire about her.

While this show is known for its diverse and positive representation, having the lead be a strong, hilarious, rebellious mom-to-be made us fall in love with the show and Melanie Scrofano even more.
