20 Television Characters Who Died in 2017
13. Michael Cordero (Jane the Virgin)

Seeing Jane and Michael fall apart and eventually find their way back to one another is one of the highlights of Jane the Virgin‘s first few seasons. It is, therefore, particularly shocking to witness it end so suddenly.
Just when Michael seems to be in the clear, surviving and recovering from being shot, he drops dead from unknown complications leaving Jane and the show’s fans with broken hearts.
14. Rosario (Will & Grace)

Rosario may not actually make an appearance on the revival of NBC’s Will & Grace, but her death still provides a nice platform to see a new side of Karen Walker.
Fortunately for viewers, this includes a chance to enjoy a great performance from Megan Mulally. Karen is both heartbreaking and hilarious in her final scene, giving just the briefest glimpses of vulnerability before she pulls out a spray bottle of cleaner from Rosario’s coffin and the laughs return.
15. Mary Watson (Sherlock)

New mother Mary Watson believes her assassin past is fully behind her – until it isn’t. She nearly makes it through before sacrificing herself to save Sherlock Holmes from a bullet, leaving her husband and a newborn baby girl behind.
Although they got off to a rocky start, Mary is one of the few characters on Sherlock the detective clearly respects. Seeing John Watson and Sherlock cope with Mary’s death reveals new depths to both characters.
16. Peter Quinn (Homeland)

Peter Quinn escapes death numerous times before it finally catches up with him in a dramatic hail of bullets during the Homeland Season 6 finale. He often put Carrie’s well-being above his own, so it is not surprising he dies saving her life. While viewers may miss his character, at least he goes out protecting the woman he loves and serving his country.
17. Prometheus aka Adrian Chase (Arrow)

Real talk: Prometheus is not a terribly well-written villain. On the page, he’s just a crazy person with a violent need for revenge. The success of this character lies entirely at the feet of Josh Seggara, who through the shear strength of his performance has viewers almost rooting for the bad guy to win at times.
However, as the villain, it is no surprise Prometheus dies in the final episode of Arrow Season 5. But, his last parting shot of blowing up Lian Yu with everyone Oliver loves still ashore makes for a compelling cliff-hanger.
18. Stick (The Defenders)

As the blind man who taught Matt Murdock’s Daredevil his moves, Stick is a character devoted to defeating the evil organization, the Hand, no matter the cost. This makes him unlikable at times, but he never wanders from his path. Ultimately, he dies as he lives – fighting against his enemy on The Defenders.
