Often the bad guy and occasionally filling the role of anti-hero, Crowley is a constant fixture in the lives of the demon-hunting Winchester brothers.

The King of Hell’s intense rivalry with Lucifer provides the backbone for more than a few of Supernatural‘s epic good vs. evil storylines. His final sacrifice to thwart Lucifer is one of the most the memorable moments in this long-running series.

8. Raina St. Patrick (Power)

Power Season 4 2017

This is certainly one of the most shocking and tragic character deaths of 2017. Tariq’s poor decisions start to catch up with him, but instead of paying the price with his life, it is his sister, Raina, who is tragically shot after trying to stand up for her brother.

The death is unexpected, violent, and tremendously sad. Power certainly know how to twist the knife.

9. Stefan Salvatore (Vampire Diaries)

Human Stefan - The Vampire Diaries 8x12

Sit down Edward Cullen, Stefan Salvatore is the ultimate romantic vampire hero.

While the Salvatore brothers certainly experience many ups and downs through eight seasons of The Vampire Diaries, they clearly love each other through it all. It is no surprise Stefan would give up his life to save his brother, Elena, and the entire town of Mystic Falls. But that doesn’t make it any less sad.

10. Frank Randall (Outlander)

Frank Randall is a complicated character – one that is at times wonderful and kind of awful. He admirably remains by his wife, Claire’s, side even though she is pregnant and in love with someone else. And it is impossible not to appreciate his love for Brianna. She may not be his biological daughter, but he clearly adores her.

Unfortunately, sticking it out with Claire results in some very unhappy years for the couple. Too much drinking and an affair make him a bit less sympathetic, and his death in a car accident almost feels like a relief – for Outlander viewers and the character.

11. Mrs. S (Orphan Black)

Orphan Black – Season 5

Orphan Black is a show full of bad ass women and Mrs. S is right at home. She starts out as simply the estranged foster-mother of main character Sara Manning, but viewers soon see Mrs. S is a vital part of the clone mystery.

Mrs. S is a tough-talking, intelligent, and compassionate character who is consistent in putting the well-being of those she cares about first. She goes down fighting and dies only after taking out one of the bad guys. Her supremely brave death makes you want to pump your fist and cry simultaneously.

12. Olenna Tyrell (Game of Thrones)

To be honest, it is difficult to believe any character as boss as Game of Thrones‘ Olenna Tyrell can lose at anything and subsequently be made to drink poison and die. However, as the show works overtime to put all the players into position for the final season, it is expected viewers will need to say farewell to some of their favorites.

Olenna may be defeated by the Lannisters, but she manages to get the last word when she reveals to Jaime Lannister that she is responsible for Joffrey’s assassination.
