Julianna Margulies to Star in AMC’s New Drama ‘Dietland’
One of Hollywood’s most talented actors is returning to television.
According to TVLine, Julianna Margulies will star in AMC’s new drama, Dietland, based on the 2015 novel by Sarai Walker.
Executive produced by Marti Noxon, Dietland will follow the story of Plum Kettle, (Joy Nash, Twin Peaks) an obese woman who is preparing for weight loss surgery. The show will take a deeper look into the beauty industry and explore society’s beauty standards.
Per the network’s description, Margulies will play the character of Kitty Montgomery, an ambitious magazine editor “whose world is thrown into chaos when a feminist terrorist organization starts targeting people in her orbit. Sucked into a terrifying news cycle, Kitty can no longer rely on her old-school media power and must instead play a whole new game of master manipulation where rules no longer apply.”

“Julianna is diabolically talented and beautiful, which makes her perfect to play our Kitty. I am genuinely honored to have the opportunity to work with her. She’s a special human and a rare actor,” Noxon said. “I can’t wait to start and for the world to get a load of this show.”
Margulies’ last prominent TV role was on CBS’s The Good Wife, which ran for seven seasons before ending in 2016.
Dietland, which was ordered for ten episodes, is slated to premiere in 2018.
