The Mick Review: The Visit (Season 2 Episode 3)
On The Mick Season 2 Episode 3, “The Visit,” Ben cements himself as the star of the show. Back tat and all.
I love Micky, don’t get me wrong, but Ben is consistently the funniest part of each episode. This week he sneaks into prison, er, camp, to visit his dad.
This storyline should be ridiculous, but Ben plays it so straight that it’s almost believable.
And totally hilarious.

Ben, although young, is holding this show together. Each week it seems that more of the episode is dedicated to him. This week the other storylines are very secondary to Ben hanging out with inmates.
He races roaches. He evaluates the credibility of a snitch. He even gives some gifts.
Again, none of this should work. The fact that it all does is testament to eight-year-old Jack Stanton’s acting.
Chip, on the other hand, falls flat. The thread of Jimmy and Chip trying to help Chip’s dad is weak. In fact, all it does is move along Ben’s story.

Micky and Sabrina, however, give Ben a run for his money with their ‘spa day’ turned prison yard brawl. Sabrina goes from uber-relaxed after her mom’s apology to beating her with a tree seamlessly.
The mother-daughter dynamic is spot on.

So is the sister dynamic between Micky and Poodle. We get some backstory here and it is both illuminating and hilarious. We even find out that Poodle may have dabbled in stripping. Or at least naked waitressing.
Yeah, Poodle.
The ladies coming to peace after their fight (while zip-tie handcuffed) is both fulfilling and promising. Why promising? Because it means Micky gets access to money again.

And Micky is greatest when she has access to money.
All-in this episode did a nice job of entertaining while moving the ball.

It also offered us some of the best one-liners so far:
- “I’m eating the ants. I like the way they wiggle inside of me” – Ben.
- “I thought there’d be a beer guy” – Jimmy (at an apple orchard).
- “Think of it as a spa day for the soul” – Micky (about prison).
- “Hold my goggles” – Chip.
- “This is bigger than lettuce” – Micky.
- “I love you like a son” – Chip’s dad to Chip.
I’m excited to see where Micky and the gang go now that they have their money back. I was getting tired of the burned down house.
