Wynonna Earp: Melanie Scrofano Talks Demon Possessions and Rat Smoothies [Video]

Interviews, Pinned, San Diego Comic-Con, Video, Wynonna Earp

We got a chance to speak with Wynonna Earp’s Melanie Scrofano at San Diego Comic-Con about demon possessions and rat smoothies. (Yes, I said rat smoothies.)

Wynonna Earp Season 2 saw a different side of Melanie Scrofano and Wynonna, and I’m not talking about her being pregnant.

Scrofano got a chance to be evil and show a side of Wynonna that was bright, twisted, and bubbly at the same time. We have never seen a Wynonna like this in the time that we’ve known her and the differences are shocking.

Scrofano commented on this by saying, “It was so tragic, in a way, to see Wynonna be so free as demon Wynonna because if Wynonna didn’t have the kind of burdens she would probably be that fun and laugh that much…and she can’t.”

In comparison, her sister was able to fight off the possession and hold onto who she was. And Wynonna, the Earp heir who’s sent demon after demon back to hell wasn’t able to.

“Wynonna is tired of fighting,” Scrofano said.

Her sister doesn’t have the burdens that she does and according to Scrofano, “Wynonna has trouble fighting it because it feels good to let go.”

During her time as Dark Wynonna, we got one of the most memorable scenes of the show to date. I’m talking about…the smoothie, which lit up Scrofano’s face like a light because she loved it so much.

“It was such a great fake rat. It looked real, and I was like no, I don’t think we can do this.”

Scrofano then explained how she squeezed it to check for authenticity. And it did not disappoint!… “I got to see the magic of television.”

5 Things We Learned About ‘Wynonna Earp’ at San Diego Comic-Con

Lyra is a TV and movie enthusiast. It all started on a dark night when she turned on Fox and fell in love with the X-Files. It was all history after that as she got lost in Doctor Who, The Marvel Verse and most recently everything DC. Her love for Doctor Who lead her to study abroad, where she fell into live-tweeting and the lovely explosion of fandom life that Tumblr is. Her main love for the summer (with a mega re-watch happening) is Arrow. When she isn’t sharing her love for TV and movies she’s writing fan-fiction, taking care of her family, and puttering around her kitchen.
