Wynonna Earp: 8 Best Moments from “Let’s Pretend We’re Strangers” (Season 2 Episode 5)

Reviews, Wynonna Earp

Wynonna Earp Season 2 Episode 5, “Let’s Pretend We’re Strangers” is the most exciting and impactful episode of Season 2 so far with great moments both big and small.

Here are the 8 best moments from Wynonna Earp Season 2 Episode 5!

8. Who Wants Nachos?

This episode opens with some new would-be enemies taking a bit more of a…blunt approach  to eliminating the monsters in the Ghost River Triangle. I’m not sure exactly who these people are and why this is the first time we’re seeing them.

They appear to operate with a similar purpose to both Wynonna and Black Badge, but with a more religious perspective. At this point it seems a little bit like overkill to have a whole other agency working on the same thing, but I love that the Wynonna Earp continues to give us such real characters. Yes they’re monster hunters, but they’re also firemen that love Nachos on a Monday night.

7. Lucado Explodes

Did anyone ever like Lucado anyway? I don’t think so. Honestly she’d been dead weight from the minute she was assigned to join their team. She brought down the morale of the team and only put them in more danger than they needed to be in.

Good riddance Lucado, you definitely go out with a bang!

6. Wynonna and Dolls

Wynonna has a lot harder time fighting against the goo demon than Waverly, but she’s able to surface for a moment when she’s with Dolls. The difference between Goononna and Wynonna is stark, and Dolls can tell.

Something is brewing between these two and I can’t wait to see where it’s going.

5. Doc Knows Wynonna isn’t Herself

The relationship between Doc and Wynonna is one of the most interesting and nuanced relationships on the show so it’s nice to see him be the one to figure out that she isn’t herself.

Doc: Wynonna Earp never leaves the house without that gun. And she drinks her coffee black.

Doc has always been one of the most perceptive characters on Wynonna Earp so it’s nice to see him use all of these little details he’s picked up about Wynonna to save her life.

4. Wynonna Drinks Holy Water

Wynonna’s always been a little unorthodox and a lot ballsy. I’m pretty sure that she’s the only person who could get away with straight up drinking holy water from the flask.

This moment is just another of many that show that Wynonna is 1. A total badass, 2. Has her own way of handling things and 3. You better not dare stand between her and Waverly.

3. Wayhaught

We’ve had a lot of good Wayhaught content so far in Season 2, but it’s all been a little bittersweet with Gooverly being on the loose. Finally this week we’re back to goo-free Wayhaught, and it is so lovely.

Nicole: I would shoot anybody for you.

Waverly: That’s really sweet

The conflict between Wynonna and Nicole has been palpable this season, but Nicole knows that Waverly’s love for her sister (and vice versa) comes first. Nicole’s knowledge of that relationship and her respect for it allows Wynonna to save the woman they both love.

2. Earp Sisters

Every Earp sisters moment in Wynonna Earp Season 2 Episode 5 is absolutely flawless, so this place is actually for all of them. Waverly taking the demon back shows us how much she trusts Wynonna and how much faith she has in her abilities.

Then Wynonna is able to save Waverly because they’re sisters, they grew up together, they have a history. A history filled with the ridiculous things you do to your siblings when you’re a kid. This moment is another that sets Wynonna Earp apart and makes its characters real.

These are real sisters who love each other and mess with each other and know how to communicate. It also adds humor to the action so that things aren’t so unnecessarily heavy.

Lastly, Waverly being the one to deliver the news to Wynonna that she’s pregnant just reinforces how central this relationship is to the show. Waverly understands Wynonna more than anyone else on the show, and it’s beautiful to see her be there for Wynonna when she gets that life changing information.

1. Wynonna is Pregnant

This plot twist is as fantastic as it is unexpected. When Wynonna Earp showrunner learned that Melanie Scrofano was pregnant she wrote her pregnancy into the show, instead of hiding it. It’s a brilliant move and I’m so excited to see how they incorporate it into the show!

Waverly: Wynonna, you’re not alone

Wynonna: You could say that again.

Because this is a science fiction show, it could be as simple as Wynonna being pregnant with Doc’s baby, but it could be so much more complex than that too. What do you think? Immortal Earp-Holliday baby or Supernatural baby?
