The Mist Series Preview: Messing With Your Mind

The Mist is on its way, and it’s not pretty.

Spike’s new 10-episode series is set to overtake the small screen on Thursday, June 22 at 10/9c. The show is a reimagining of the 1980 novella of the same name by Stephen King.

Fans of King’s novella and the 2007 Frank Darabont film will notice big differences in this reimagining, but creator and showrunner Christian Thorpe said there needed to be changes so the show could be made for television.

“The novel is 180 pages and takes place over a very short time in a supermarket,” Thorpe said in a video featurette released by Spike. “In order to make it into a show, we had to change a lot of things, and, at the same time, we wanted to be incredibly respectful to the source material.”

From l to r: Kevin Copeland (Morgan Spector) reaches a local hospital for his friend Bryan Hunt (Okezie Morro) along with Mia Lambert (Danica Curcic) and Adrian Garf (Russell Posner) as they try to cope with the mist. Based on a story by Stephen King, Spike TV's THE MIST premieres on Thursday, June 22 at 10 PM, ET/PT.

King doesn’t seem to have a problem with the changes as he encouraged fans on Twitter to check it out. “It’s really good,” he posted on June 13.

In Thorpe’s version, the story centers around the Copeland family who is dealing with the sexual assault of their teenage daughter when the mysterious mist rolls into town.

Townsfolk are trapped at the mall, church, and other places and must deal not only with each other but also the threats hiding in the mist.

Being trapped is bound to make people crazy, but how far will the rules of society slip?

Based on the official trailer below the fear factor is in full effect as things start to get out of hand.
