The potential series, which is still untitled, will follow an elite unit as they train and plan dangerous, high-stakes missions. Boreanaz will play Jason, the experienced leader of the team who is described as both respected and committed.

He will replace Jim Caviezel (Person of Interest), who was originally planned for the role, but reportedly left the project because of creative differences.

The series is written by Ben Cavell. Cavell will also executive produce along with Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly.

Boreanaz is best known for his roles as Seeley Booth on Bones and as Angel on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. Bones will air its series finale on Tuesday, March 28th at 9/8c, wrapping up an incredible 12-season run.
