The Bachelor Recap: A Case of the Bimini Blues (Season 21 Episode 7)

Recaps, The Bachelor

Last week’s episode of The Bachelor ended on a ultra-dramatic note, when Nick approached the ladies in tears, expressing the fear that he might not find his partner here — again.

This week picks up with the women reacting to his outburst. They’re now equally emotional; sad because he’s hurting and worried he might throw in the towel.

Meanwhile, Nick has a serious talk with Bachelor Nation’s official therapist, Chris Harrison. Chris tells him that he needs to decide now whether he’s really ready to give up his search for true love.

When he’s to face the women again, Nick returns to their hotel room the next morning for another, less intense chat. As soon as he enters, the women are visibly on-edge — all but Corinne, that is, who flashes a seductive smile and fixes her hair.

After much (unnecessary) anticipation, Nick FINALLY spits out the truth: he wants to move on and continue on this journey with them. So, to recap, nothing has changed whatsoever, and we’re now ten minutes into the episode.

Without a Rose Ceremony (clearly sending 301 girls home last week was enough for the time being), they head off to their next destination. It’s Bimini, a tropical location absolutely no one has heard of. Yay!

Diving into the Deep End

Soon after the girls arrive in Bimini, the first date card arrives. It’s for a One-on-One, and Vanessa is the lucky invitee. This will be the first “second One-on-One” of the season, and Corinne is not okay with it. She technically hasn’t even had one yet, so she feels it’s completely unfair.

Unaffected by Corinne’s displeasure, Vanessa skips off to her day with Nick. It begins with a romantic boat ride, where they jump right into discussing their feelings and the future they’ve envisioned with each other.

While they have this important talk, the women in the house get serious too. Corinne tells the others that she doesn’t see “any depth” to Vanessa. Because, after all of her previous antics, she’s in the position to judge.

Vanessa, thankfully, proves Corinne wrong, confessing to Nick that: “the feeling that I have for you is not a feeling that I had in years” (unfortunately it seems that her English is less impressive than her emotional depth).

She goes on to tell Nick that she is, in fact, falling in love with him. After they share a kiss, he responds with a bumbling speech about not wanting to say he loves more than one woman. This leaves Vanessa less than confident, and she ends the night feeling unsure whether her relationship with Nick is as solid as she once thought.

Shark Bait

The group date that follows is really a three-on-One, with Corinne, Raven, and Kristina’s names on the card. All three girls are falling for Nick, and they’re determined to get the date rose — it’s the only pre-Rose Ceremony flower on the line this week!

They, too, start out on a boat (must have been a two-day rental!), where Nick immediately proceeds to rub sun screen all over their bikini-clad bodies. He relieves the skeevy tension, though, by assuring them that today will be full of “awesomeness.”

But when Nick announces that the date will involve swimming with sharks, Corinne and Kristina are visibly terrified. This provides a sense of comfort for Raven, though, who believes that sharks can “smell fear.”

Unfortunately for Raven, none of the sharks bite, and all three women make it to the evening portion of their date.

Nick starts off the night with Kristina, pulling her aside to discuss their relationship and whether or not it’s going anywhere. For an unknown reason, Nick soon begins to cry AGAIN, this time on Kristina’s shoulder.

Like the comforting girlfriend she is, Kristina responds to Nick’s emotional outburst by telling him: “you can’t keep us all.” His response? “But you six women are great!”

After Raven and Corinne each share romantic moments with their bachelor as well, it’s time for him to give out the one and only rose. Raven is the lucky lady chosen, and she attempts to hide her happiness as Nick awkwardly offers the others a stiff hug.

He and Raven barely make it out the door before sharing a celebratory make-out sesh, then head to a moonlit concert on the beach. Here, Raven tells the camera that she’s definitely falling in love, as the couple dances together along the shoreline.

A Bicycle Built for One

It’s Danielle M. who is awarded the next One-on-One, and she is beyond thrilled. Unable to contain her excitement, she fans herself with the date card and wriggles around on the couch.

Their date begins with an adorable bike ride through the streets of Bimini. They stop along the way to explore the island’s shops and play basketball against some conveniently placed native children.

Danielle feels like things are just “easy” with Nick, and that they have fallen into a great and comfortable rhythm. Nick, on the other hand, appears less than excited to be spending the day with her.

When the time comes to sit down and have a serious conversation about their future, neither really has much to say. Nick, as a result, is feeling like their relationship has taken a turn for the worse, and he isn’t sure whether they can get back on track.

Though, in the end, Danielle feels like the date was a wonderful success, Nick is still feeling uneasy. After telling her that her “face is pretty great”, he delivers the heartbreaking news: they have a “really strong friendship”, but he doesn’t see a romantic future with her.

And with that, Danielle M. bids a sad goodbye to the show — and to Nick.

Corinne Goes for Gold — or Should We Say Platinum?

After seeing someone as sweet as Danielle M. sent home, Corinne is feeling even more worried about her fate. She decides to take matters into her own hands by stopping by Nick’s room and “turning on [her] sex charm.”

Though Nick initially welcomes her with open arms, he has second thoughts — after diving into bed with her — and stops things before they go too far. Looks like he learned his lesson after that all too similar situation with Kaitlyn…

Corinne thus leaves his room, dejected and unsure of whether Nick even likes her. Apparently, even a platinum vagine isn’t enough to solidify a hometown date this season!

Bartender Knows Best

The very last date in Bimini goes to Rachael, and she is pumped to “do the local stuff” with Nick.

She kind of gets her wish, as their date is set at a local bar. Nick gets right to the point and brings up the impending hometown dates. He’s worried about how Rachel’s family will react to meeting him.

After he awkwardly tiptoes around the question of whether they will accept him, Rachel bluntly tells Nick that she has “never brought home a white guy.” She knows, however, that her family will love whoever she truly falls for.

This clearly eases Nick’s mind. He and Rachel spend the rest of the day just relaxing and enjoying their time together. And after their friendly bartender advises her to make sure Nick “not just wants you, but also needs you”, Rachel heads back to await the Rose Ceremony with the other girls — feeling happy and confident that Nick does, in fact, need her.

Bye Bye, Bimini

Rather than waste time, however, Nick — fresh off his date with Rachel — tells Chris Harrison that he knows what he needs to do. He walks straight over to the women’s room and seeks out Kristina.

He gets her alone and tells her that, though he cares about her so much, he has stronger relationships with other women in the house. Though Kristina is incredibly disappointed, she tells Nick that she is happy to know he is feeling those feelings — albeit not for her.

With a possible Rose Ceremony still in the cards, the women are left feeling sick with worry. Nick’s actions have been completely unpredictable, and they truly don’t know what to expect next.

Will yet another women be sent packing before the hometown dates, or is Nick headed to visit all four families next week? Share your predictions in the comments and tune in to find out when The Bachelor returns, Monday at 8/7c on ABC.
