Growing Up McGhee Recap: Halloween! (Season 2 Episode 4)
This week with the McGhee family: the pumpkin patch.
Yep, it’s Halloween time in the McGhee household on Growing Up McGhee Season 2 Episode 4, “You just touched poop.”
Mia and Ro decide to take the kids to the pumpkin patch with them for the first time. For Mia and Ro this is an every year tradition that started before the kids were even born. But, for the children, this is their first year being old enough to get to go.
During Ro’s breakdown of the rules for the pumpkin patch, the kids decide to break out into song, having a blast while repeating the rules. That is one thing that I do love about this show; the children are so fun. The kids always break into song and dance because it’s their go-to thing, and it’s adorable.
I would love to see an episode where Ro, Mia, and the kids formed a little band for a day or two and let them go all out. That would be a bunch of fun.
The family arrives at the pumpkin patch only to realize that they forgot their coats, and it’s now chilly outside. So, Mia decides to run back to the house to pick up the coats instead of having to haul the children back and forth.
As soon as Mia is away, the kids run to the wild turkeys and goats at the small petting zoo near the pumpkin patch. Ro, being all by himself and watching six kids, decides to get the children away from the petting zoo and instead takes them to the little park to go slide.
The slides last all of five minutes before they’re back at the petting zoo, antagonizing the ducks. But, due to short attention spans, the children run off from there as well. They finally make a stop at the straw tunnel. After the kids being inside for so long Ro decides to get inside himself, just to make sure that everything is okay.
After the straw tunnel, it’s back to the playground for the kids. Ro isn’t left with the children by himself a lot of the time, so this is the first time he realizes just how helpful it is to have all boys where the same shirt and all girls wear the same shirt/dress. Tracking down four boys that have the same shirt and two girls with the same shirt is so much easier than letting them all wear different clothes.
Mia finally arrives back with the coats, and they make their way to the pumpkin patch. The kids have an absolute ball while looking throughout the patch, trying to find the best pumpkin they can. Eventually, the children, Mia, and Ro all find a pumpkin that suits them and then decide to go home.
The next day it’s time for the family to make a trip to the Halloween store to look for costumes. Because there are six children to keep an eye on, the McGhee’s decide on a theme of prince and princesses for Halloween to make it easier.
Everything is going fine until the kids have to put their first pick swords back on the shelves because they look sharp and could hurt somebody. But never fear, Mia and Ro find some plastic swords within 5 minutes that are more suitable for the children and won’t hurt anybody.
Now, it’s time to carve the pumpkins that they had gotten a few days before. Having six kids with six little knives is enough to give anyone anxiety. One false move and somebody could lose a finger.
But, the kids take it carefully and soon make their way inside of the pumpkin, the mess, and seeds.
Halloween Party day has come at the school, but instead of being super easy like most parents they, they have six different classrooms to go to in an hour.
They get moving, spending a total of ten minutes in each class. Because they can’t stay past ten minutes per room, they make sure that it’s quality time spent together.
Mia and Ro felt wrong in the beginning about holding the children back, but now they’re happy they did it. The kids are finally maturing at the same rate as the kids from school.
The kids are learning, growing, and developing at the same speed as everyone else. It’s truly a beautiful sight to see.
To end the episode, the McGhee’s put on their costumes and hit the neighborhood to go trick or treating.
