Grimm Review: The Seven Year Itch (Season 6 Episode 5)
“When something itches my dear sir, the natural tendency is to scratch.”
On Grimm Season 6 Episode 5, the Wesen of the week is a creepy looking fellow who only pops up once every seven years. Aside from the ick factor, this case is nothing special.
Honestly, the best part of the whole thing is the unexpected ending. The girl, the victim, being a Wesen and saving herself was absolutely awesome.
We’re six seasons in, so we know the usual routine. The confrontation in the park leads to the Wesen of the week being either handcuffed or killed. It’s what always happens, so having Team Grimm do absolutely nothing but watch as their bad guy gets taken out by the intended victim is shocking in the best way.
Plus, I really liked the girl. I wish her nothing but the best. She’s the MVP of the hour for me.
It’s the only thing about the case that is remotely interesting. Every thing else about the case is beyond boring. What did you think of the case?
Sorry, but when we know it’s the final season, and there’s so much to wrap up, there’s very little desire to spend time watching something that does not matter in the long run, especially since we are not getting answers anywhere else in the hour.
We are not any closer to magical stick related answers than we were two episodes ago. The closest “answer” is Eve saying that she thinks the symbols are connected to what saved her and Nick.
I mean duh! What else would they be connected to, Eve? Your horoscope?
The only other inkling that we get is that somehow Diana is seeing and drawing the same symbols as Eve. Now, Eve was healed by the stick, and then she had that weird death grip experience, where she first saw the symbols.
Diana has not had any near death experience. Her purple vision allowed her to see the symbols on the cloth, but that’s it. So, basically, we now have another stick related question – how is Diana connected or able to witness whatever the hell the symbols are?
My money is on Diana’s powers. I think whatever her gift is, she is just able to see more.
Why hasn’t Nick seen any of the symbols? Like Eve, Nick has also been saved by the stick. He even tells Hank that he knows for sure that he died back during that battle in his apartment.
Nick is probably bonded to the stick in some weird way, and yet, he isn’t dreaming of symbols or seeing them on the cloth. What makes him different from Diana and Eve?
See, this is why we should be focusing on getting answers and not following around the latest murderous Wesen of the week.

At least with the haunting of Sean Renard, we are getting some answers. Meisner is definitely an actual ghost and not a manifestation of Renard’s guilty conscience.
Meisner: I’m not sure I can commit to a half-assed haunting, Sean. I mean you wouldn’t respect me if I were to take a cheap thank you and drifted off into whatever awaits me. I think we have some real issues to work through.
Ghost Meisner is a delightful source of sarcasm and comic relief, which Grimm could always use more of. His haunting of Renard has made Renard a lot more entertaining to watch, especially since the whole Black Claw and HW war seems to be on the back burner for now (or maybe ever).
Right now, I can’t decide if Meisner is more interesting as Renard’s conscience or as an actual ghost. Of course, I suppose Ghost Meisner could also be there to steer Renard back onto the morally right path.
Whatever the case may be, Meisner’s presence is intriguing, and hopefully, somehow, Diana will be able to speak with him. It has to be coming, one way or another.
Diana would do anything to help save her father, and she wants to talk to Meisner, so it could be a killing two birds with one stone kind of situation.
