Jane The Virgin Review: Chapter Fifty-Two (Season 3 Episode 8)
She’s back from hiatus, and I know I have missed Jane The Virgin!
On Jane The Virgin Season 3 Episode 8, “Chapter Fifty-Two,” the show continues after leaving us with that surprising midseason finale cliffhanger.
So, Rafael is not a real Solano, and boy does that suck. I’m sad that this is something he is now finding out, after everything that’s happened within his family thus far.
With every bombshell after another in that family, this is probably the biggest one yet.
Not only does Rafael have to deal with this family secret, but he also has Catalina’s lying self to deal with as well.
Can Catalina just go away already? Please?
I think it’s time for her to go. Her storyline is pretty boring, if I’m being honest here. She was cute and all in the beginning, but now I think her role on the show is out-of-place.
We still don’t know what she’s up to or why she’s still sticking around. I just know that I don’t enjoy having her around anymore. It seems like Jane is kind of over her being around as well.
As much as it pains me to know that Rafael and Jane are no longer an item, it’s nice to know that she still cares for him because in the end, he is the father of her son.
When Catalina questions where Jane’s loyalties lie, and Jane straight-up lets her know it’s with Rafael, I applaud her.
Just because someone is family doesn’t mean you always need to take their side. Especially if it’s someone you barely met and who has been lying since the day they got there.
Meanwhile, Xo is still dating Bruce. It takes Jane more time than expected to get used to it all, given knowing Xo and Bruce’s history together, and the numerous times Bruce hurt Xo in the past.
It’s just good old Jane being the cautious and protective daughter she’s always been, so you can’t really blame her.

This whole Xo and Bruce relationship isn’t my favorite, and I feel like it is a bit forced. There’s a reason why they didn’t work out well in the past, and I feel like the past will come back to haunt these two just when they seem to getting along really well.
Speaking of relationships, Jane and Michael as a married couple are actually starting to grow on me. They portray such a healthy, honest, and supportive relationship.
They work well together, and on this episode of Jane The Virgin, we see how supportive Jane really is of Michael.
Michael isn’t satisfied with his desk duty job at the station, and now he’s on a quest to finding a career that best suits him.
He toys with the idea of becoming a lawyer. That should be interesting. But I love how Jane was helping him out through the process of it and being there for him, overall.
Stray Thoughts
- Petra is out for vengeance now that she knows Rafael played her by making her feel paranoid. I wonder what she has planned for him now.
- Seriously though, where are Anna and Elsa? Petra…where are your twins?!
- Rogelio getting an erection in the middle of a nude scene was so awkwardly funny. He’s falling for Darci but she doesn’t feel the same. This relationship is all business for her.
