17 Awesome Made for TV Holiday Movies To Watch This Season

Lists, TV Movies

13. Window Wonderland (Hallmark Channel)

YouTube video

Window Wonderland stars Chyler Leigh (Grey’s AnatomySupergirl) as Sloan (the combination of Chyler Leigh and the name Sloan gives me major Mark/Lexie feels) a window decorator for a department store. During the holiday season, she is placed in a competition with fellow decorator Jake (Paul Cambell). As they work together, sparks start to fly.

Chyler Leigh is incredible, as always, and Paul Cambell is one of my favorite “Hallmark guys”, which makes Window Wonderland one of my favorite made-for-tv holiday movies ever.

Window Wonderland airs on Hallmark Channel on Tue 12/20 at 4 am and Fri 12/30 at 6 am.

14. A Royal Christmas (Hallmark Channel)

YouTube video

As you can probably tell by now, I REALLY love these story lines featuring royals. A Royal Christmas starts with a premise quite similar to The Prince and Me as a normal American girl Emily (Lacey Chabert) finds out her boyfriend Leo (Stephen Hagan) is actually Prince Leopold of Cordinia, a country loosely based on Monaco.

Emily, described as a “humble seamstress”, is definitely not the kind of woman Leo’s mother imagines as a future Princess, but obviously, Emily’s warm demeanor and spirit of Christmas melt even the coldest of hearts, resulting in a magical modern fairy tale.

A Royal Christmas airs on Hallmark Channel on Wed 12/14 at 8 am; Mon 12/19 at 12 am; and Mon 12/26 at 8 pm.

15. A Christmas Kiss (Ion Television)

holidays8

Wendy (Laura Breckenridge), an aspiring interior decorator, shares a spontaneous kiss with Adam (Brendan Fehr) in an elevator on her way to a masquerade ball. Soon after, she finds out that the guy she locked lips with is actually her boss’s boyfriend. When her boss travels out-of-town, it is up to Wendy to prepare Adam’s house for a Christmas party.

I credit A Christmas Kiss as one of the first movies that really got me into films like the ones this list features, which is why it holds a special place in my heart.

Fun fact: A Christmas Kiss features Jerrika Hinton, now known as Dr. Stephanie Edwards in Grey’s Anatomy, as Wendy’s friend Tressa.

A Christmas Kiss airs on Ion Television on Sun 12/18 at 9 pm. A Christmas Kiss is also available on Netflix.

16. The Christmas Card (Hallmark Movies & Mysteries)

YouTube video

This one ALWAYS makes me cry!

A Christmas card, sent to a fellow soldier, directs Sgt. Cody Cullen (John Newton) to a small California town where he runs into Faith (Alice Evans), a young single woman working for her family’s logging company.

After Cody heroically saves someone close to Faith, he gets a temporary job at the family company, and soon enough, feelings start to develop between Cody and Faith.

As mentioned, these military-related stories are definitely a weak spot for me, which is probably why this one, even after multiple rewatches, manages to make me sob.

The Christmas Card airs on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries on Thu 12/22 at 3 am & 5 pm; Wed 12/28 at 7 pm; Fri 12/30 at 9 pm; and Sat 12/31 at 9 pm. The Christmas Card is also available on Netflix.

17. Crown for Christmas (Hallmark Channel)

holidays9

Yet again another Christmas love story with a small European nation. Allie (Danica McKellar) takes a job as a governess of Princess Theodora (Ellie Botterill), the heir of widowed King Maximillian (Rupert Penry-Jones) of Winshire.

As Allie gets to know the ins and outs of the court, she gets closer to Maximillian. But can a normal American woman become the Queen of Winshire?

Rupert Penry-Jones is so damn charming (some of you might have seen him as Thomas Hamilton in Black Sails or as Captain Wentworth in BBC’s adaptation of Jane Austen’s Persuasion), and his presence and chemistry with Danica McKellar makes this one an absolute pleasure to watch.

Crown for Christmas airs on the Hallmark Channel on Thu 12/22 at 6 am;  Wed 12/28 at 8 pm; and Sat 12/31 at 2 pm.
