18 Fantastic Sci-Fi / Fantasy TV Shows from 2016
7. From Dusk Till Dawn

Based off the Robert Rodriquez 1996 movie, From Dusk Till Dawn continues the adventures of the Gecko Brothers –Seth and Richie. In 2016, From Dusk Till Dawn had their strongest season yet as they had to contend with a demon possessing their former ally Kate Fuller in the form of Amaru.
One of the biggest strengths of the show is its ability to add on to the legacy of Dusk while never ignoring the core of the movie. An awesome season finale leads to one of the best and most rewarding moments of 2016 for long-time fans of the show and movie.
8. Wynonna Earp
One of the most pleasant surprises of 2016 was Wynonna Earp. Based off the Beau Smith comic, Wynonna returns to her hometown of Purgatory to help clear her family name and with her sister Waverly fight the demons invading the town.
Wynonna Earp also provides us with a ton of kick-ass female characters in Wynonna, Waverly, and Officer Nicole Haught.
As a combination of western and supernatural, Wynonna Earp is also praised for its strong supporting characters such as the legendary Doc Holliday, and one of the hottest couples of 2016 in Waverly and Officer Haught (WayHaught is what the kids are calling it). I see nothing but a bright future for the ongoing saga of Wynonna Earp and her family.
9. Once Upon A Time

Once Upon A Time continues to show it’s still one of the most enjoyable shows on network television with the introduction this season of Jasmine & Aladdin and the return of the Evil Queen to wreak havoc on Storybrooke.
Strong characters highlight the show’s strengths as Jennifer Morrison and Colin O’Donoghue have made Emma and Hook one of the best couples on television. Add in some new wrinkles to the show such as the curse of the Charmings and the surprise returns of certain characters keeps Once Upon A Time feeling fresh and exciting in its sixth season.
10. Stranger Things

In the vein of “The Goonies” and “Super 8,” Stranger Things hit the scene like a freight train and became a pop culture happening. Set in the 1980’s, a 12-year old kid named Will disappears, which sets off a string of events that changes the lives of a group of kids forever.
Characters like the mysterious “Eleven” and fan favorite Barb became household names, and the words “the Upside-Down” will never be the same again.
I promise you will have a whole new appreciation for Christmas Lights after watching Stranger Things.
11.The Magicians

If you’re looking for an insane, fun, sexy and thrilling show, then may I suggest The Magicians? Based on a novel from Les Grossman, this show is so creatively in its storytelling.
Compelling characters like Alice Quinn and Quentin Coldwater help from this dangerous world of magic and the thrills and chills it gives. I will also mention one more reason to check out this show : Book Sex.
12. Preacher
An adaptation of the highly successful Vertigo comic book, Preacher gives you the feel of a gritty indie film while also throwing in angels, vampires, and God Almighty himself.
Jesse Custer feels like the every man or preacher as he contends with a growing power inside of him.
The supporting cast led by Ruth Negga’s outstanding Tulip, Jesse’s ex-lover gives the show that extra boost that made it one of the most-watched shows of 2016. Even the surprise ending of the first season doesn’t dampen how much we can’t wait for the series to return to AMC.

Thans for the gracious shout out to my favorite series of this millenia, “12 Monkeys”. Hopefully as more and more people are taking note of its brave, imaginative writing and insanely talented cast it won’t remain underrated for long.

Hey, thanks for commenting! It seems to be working fine on my end. Can you give it another try? It may have been a temporary issue.

YES!!! ALL OF THIS!!!
Love The 100 and OUAT. I would add in The Vampire Diaries and The Originals too ?
I would recommend The Expanse, Incorporated, both from SyFy Channel and Travelers on Netflix to the mix of science fiction series. Three series that most certainly will be part of my 2017 watch list.
