Jane The Virgin Review: Chapter Fifty (Season 3 Episode 6)
On Jane The Virgin Season 3 Episode 6, “Chapter Fifty,” we are introduced to Jane’s excitement of having her very own cousin.
But things might start to go downhill now that Rafael and Catalina are a thing, which may or may not compromise her relationship with the two of them.
There’s something off about Catalina. She just seems way too perfect, and something tells me she has another agenda up her sleeves.
Shady cousin, I tell you.
As much as Jane enjoys her company, she starts to believe that her life is boring compared to Catalina’s because of her exquisite looks, wildly adventurous self, and her lifestyle of being so carefree.
Alba, on the other hand, doesn’t trust Catalina. It’s going to hurt Jane, and that’ll be tough to watch.
Now that Rafael is interested in Catalina and vice versa, it might start to get complicated with, you know, Rafael being Jane’s baby daddy. I thought we were under the impression that Rafael wants to focus on himself more, but it looks like that idea ended quick.
Rafael says he’s completely over Jane, but now he has the hots for her cousin? Um, okay. Rafael Solano, you are looking to stir trouble. You and your bare chest.
Speaking of trouble, Petra forces herself to put her pride aside and play nice with Rafael so he can help with her situation with Scott.
But surprisingly, Rafael is actually the one behind the scheme with Scott as it was his idea all along so that he can team up with Petra and get his shares of the hotel back.
I didn’t see that one coming — it’s a nice twist.
It’s pretty sneaky on Rafael’s part. He’s giving Petra a little taste of her own medicine, and I don’t blame him.
Petra needs to lighten up a bit. She is always in a bad mood. And where are Elsa and Anna? They’ve been MIA.
Michael is the cutest husband ever. Jane and Michael have such a healthy relationship, and they prove it more and more throughout each episode.
Their duo karaoke performance of Bruno Mars’ “Locked Out of Heaven” is so funny to watch, and it’s also sweet of Michael to get all spontaneous and initiate that performance.
Does he sound ridiculous? Yes. But is it infectiously cute? Of course!
Michael and Jane are happy love birds, but then there’s Rogelio. Rogelio gets heartbroken once again as he desperately tries to get close with Xiomara again. It doesn’t work out the way that he wants it to when he sees her kissing her ex-boyfriend, Bruce.
Rogelio is by far my favorite character on Jane The Virgin. He brings so much comedic relief to the show– all the time. But when he’s sad and shows it, well, you just want to give him a big hug.
I’m not sure how long the writers will continue to have Rogelio longing for Xo, but it seems like it’s going nowhere. It’s obvious that Xo and Rogelio still have lingering feelings towards each other, but he wants kids and she doesn’t. She’s not going to change her mind about that.
I think the reason behind Rogelio’s longing for another child also factors into the thought of what Jane always wanted. Jane always wanted a sibling, and the fact that Rogelio was not present most of her life is what’s making him feel the way that he is feeling now.
But on this episode, realizing that Xo isn’t available to give him children, he is on a mission for some “new eggs” as he recalls. It’s probably the most ridiculous thing he’s thought of so far.
He’s set on finding a new baby mama, and he’s not shying away from it. It’s crazy, that’s for sure. But I guess with Rogelio’s overly confident self and determination in getting what he wants, he might actually find a way to make it happen.
We’ll just have to wait and see what he’ll do next…
