Queen of The South Renewed For Season 2, New Showrunner Stepping In
Queen of the South will continue to reign for another year, but with someone new at the helm.
USA Network announced Tuesday that they have renewed the freshman drama for Season 2. Natalie Chaidez will be taking over as showrunner.
Chaidez previously worked on the USA Network shows Necessary Roughness and In Plain Sight as a consulting producer. Most recently, she served as an executive producer for the show 12 Monkeys on USA’s sister network, Syfy.

Queen of the South follows Teresa Mendoza as she works to bring down the leader of a drug trafficking ring after her drug-dealing boyfriend is murdered in Mexico. The series is based on the novel La Reina Del Sur by Arturo Pérez-Reverte. It stars Alice Braga, Verónica Falcón, Justina Machado, Peter Gadiot, Hemky Madera, and Gerardo Taracena.
The Queen of the South Season 1 finale airs Thursday, September 15th at 10/9c.
