Once Upon A Time Photo Preview: What’s Emma’s “Mysterious Side Effect”? (Season 6 Episode 1)
The longest summer of our lives is almost over, fellow Once Upon A Time fans!
Our favorite fairy tale-based drama is returning with Once Upon A Time Season 6 Episode 1, “The Savior,” on Sunday, September 25 at 8/7c on ABC. Can you believe that the show is entering its SIXTH year already? It seems like only yesterday that Henry was knocking on his biological mom Emma’s apartment door, kicking off the adventure of (several) lifetimes for both of them.
From the looks of things, we’ll be seeing plenty of new faces — Aladdin and Jafar! — in the season premiere, as well as a few returning old ones. A warm welcome back to everybody’s favorite former cricket/therapist, Archie Hopper!
The official episode synopsis indicates that there will be drama in store related to Emma’s savior status, when a “mysterious side effect” befalls Emma while our heroes are on their quest to stop new villain Hyde.
Episode description: As our heroes set out to stop Hyde, Emma develops a mysterious side effect, and Storybrooke becomes a haven for refugees from the Land of Untold Stories. Meanwhile, Regina and Zelena embrace their newfound sisterhood by becoming roommates, while Rumple tries to free Belle from the sleeping Curse with the help of a stranger. In flashback, Jafar confronts an afflicted Aladdin in Agrabah, and a secret about the Savior is revealed.
Yikes. I really hope that whatever this “mysterious side effect” is it doesn’t have a negative impact on the fight to defeat Hyde — or our beloved Captain Swan.
There’s no mention of the Evil Queen, who we last saw make her triumphant return at the very end of Once Upon A Time Season 5 Episode 22, after Regina ingested a potion in an attempt to literally separate from her past self as the Evil Queen. Regina thought that she successfully killed her dark counterpart, but the Evil Queen isn’t quite that easy to get rid of. Double yikes.
