Black Lightning Series From DC Comics Greenlit By FOX
FOX has announced a one-hour pilot for a new series starring the superhero Black Lightning.
Black Lightning will join other series from the DC Universe such as Gotham and Lucifer on FOX.
The series will be produced by Berlanti Productions, Akil Productions and Warner Bros. Television. Greg Berlanti (The Flash, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow), Mara Brock Akil (Being Mary Jane), and Salim Akil will serve as EPs for Black Lightning.
The synopsis for the pilot is as follows:
Jefferson Pierce made his choice. He hung up the suit and his secret identity years ago, but with a daughter hell-bent on justice and a star student being recruited by a local gang, he’ll be pulled back into the fight as the wanted vigilante and DC legend — Black Lightning.
According to the comics, Jefferson Pierce is a high school principal in Los Angeles. He’s also a gold medalist Olympic Decathlete. But the secret to his incredible speed is that Jefferson is a born-metahuman.
After being driven to the edge by the murder of one of his students, he becomes the Vigilante Black Lightning to combat a local gang called “The 100.”
So far, it looks like Black Lightning‘s origin story is being portrayed in the one-hour pilot. We still don’t have an air date as of yet, but expect the show to be heading our way as fast as lightning.
Black Lightning‘s other appearances include Young Justice and Batman: The Brave and the Bold.

This is going to be Supergirl all over again. Did Berlanti learn nothing about the pitfalls of putting one of his shows on a network other than The CW?
