Suits Review: Trust (Season 6 Episode 5)

Reviews, Suits

Harvey is willing to do anything to save Mike, even if it means compromising his values when it comes to representing a scumbag or two.

On Suits Season 6 Episode 5, “Trust,” that’s exactly what happens.

We pick up right where we left off in the previous episode, with Harvey and Cahill returning Mike to prison and discussing the details of their deal.

Now all Mike has to do is compromise some of his own values.

Mike is loyal, and of course he doesn’t want to turn on the one person who’s had his back since he’s been in prison, but he’s going to have to try. The problem is, now Kevin isn’t so trusting of Mike, especially when he finds out Mike wasn’t actually in the infirmary all night.

He does finally start to tell Mike what crime he committed, but we don’t get the full story, and I can’t figure out whether or not we can trust him. My gut is telling me: not so much.

One of my favorite things about this episode is following Harvey’s plans. We get the chance to see his skills in the courtroom, and then he even turns to the tables on Frank Gallo. The look on that man’s face once Harvey finally puts him in his place is priceless.

Seriously, is there anyone more clever than Harvey Specter?

I have to say, I love the direction Suits is taking with all of this. Even with Mike in prison, we’re able to see him using his knowledge of the law to keep himself from drowning in there, and we’re able to see him working with Harvey — sort of.

We actually get to explore how they work their way through all of this rather than the story relying on a time jump or a quick fix.

And even if the deal does end up working, and Cahill can get Mike out early, we’ve spent a solid five episodes already watching his character deal with that new challenge. It’s brilliant storytelling.

Other Thoughts:

  • Louis really needs to calm down. Just as Donna points out, buying a house just so he can pay this woman to remodel it isn’t exactly the best way to start a relationship.
  • What I do like about that storyline is the amazingness that is Donna. No one should ever underestimate that woman.
  • Rachel has never been one to back down from a fight, and Jessica is smart to agree to help with the case after all. She’s right — it’s certainly a better thing for people to see when they Google they firm.
