The Originals: 5 Times Camille O’Connell Was a Total Boss
With the departure of Camille O’Connell from The CW’s The Originals, it’s easy to fall into a spiral of pain and heartbreak. She was a fantastic character with so much life. and yet she was taken away from us.
Fortunately, I’m here to help you break the cycle of agony. Let’s look back at 5 times Cami was the biggest boss of them all!
1. When she stood up to the great Klaus Mikaelson.
Despite being fragile and human, Cami had no problem telling ALL the Mikaelson’s the cold, hard truth. She possessed an inner strength that let no one take advantage of her.
Even a 1,000+ year old hybrid. Oddly enough, it was one of the main reasons that Klaus became endeared with her.
2. When she protected Hope.
It didn’t matter that Cami was alone and facing a dangerous and unknown foe. She was going to protect that baby till her dying breath. And look at that face. She wasn’t afraid. She was ready to throw it down!
3. When she stole the Wooden Knight.
After being turned into a vampire, Cami became even more resilient and determined to protect herself and her family name. She felt like she was wronged when her possessions weren’t returned and she wouldn’t let anyone trample over her. That kind of strength is inspirational.
4. When she took revenge against Tristan.
She bid her time and let the ones in “power” think that she was weak and the crazy sister Aurora. Turns out she’s smarter and more cunning than expected. It was Cami all along!
Take that, Tristan De Martel, leader of the Strix, and one of the oldest vampires. Bested by a little ol’ human in transition.
5. When she lured one of her kidnappers into a false sense of security before doing this and trying to escape.
Bet you didn’t think she had that survival instinct in her. I sure didn’t. She’s a BAMF that will be missed.

I still can’t understand why the writers felt the need to kill Cami. Such a BAMF and inspirational character, I don’t think anyone is ok with this crazy decision.
Killing Cami (and Davina) was a nonsensical stupid decision by the writers. Cami had much potential for storylines and they did not resolve her current ones. Cami as a character had no resolution and the seeds they planted had no payoff. Also her romance with Klaus had no payoff. Fans waited years for them to be together but the writers disrepected them with a rushed and OOC ending. Its not fair to Cami or klamille fans that after years of loving them Cami gets axed for no good reason. Leah didn’t want to go but I guess the biased and unfounded hatred Cami got (soley for her romance with Klaus) was louder in the writers ears than the love many had for her. Haters won and I will always be bitter. Cami deserved better.
RIP Cami O’Connell BAMF Brave Bartender. Forever loved and missed
I completely agree. Cami has always stood her ground even though she knows physically she’s no match for the supernatural world. She also uses her brain more to survive and one of the things she knew she had was time was on her side even though she’s against immortals. Patience and Time! Ironic isn’t it? Sadly, the stupid writers killed her too soon before we even found out more about her lineage and her relationship with Klaus and many others. She was killed for male “development” and her character was fridge. Unfortunately the writers didn’t have the same courage or strength as our brave bartender by succumbing to some online hate and killing her off for fan service. She was not just the moral compass of the show, she was the heart and soul too. Cami’s light balanced the darkness of the characters in the show.
I am done with the show. I feel really betrayed hurt killing Camille, she was my favorite and i loved her relationship with Klaus. Why killing her of all people? Leah got so much hostility for three years and this what she gets in the end? Plus her character kicked axx and had so much to live for between her legacy and her psychology degree, he could have been fantastic to see team Haymille to fight side by side for their loved ones, and Camcent investigate, pure awesomeness, they killed for no reason and they gave her life to Hayley and Vincent.??? Obviously her fans do not count for these writers. they want appreciation but they do not appreciate in return. we the TO/Leah’s fans love and loyalty showed for three years meant NOTHING, , SO WHY WOULD I BOTHER TO WATCH ANYTHING FROM PLEC or NARDUCCI EVER AGAIN? I’ve sure leaned my lesson. The funny thing they killed Cami and Davina but everyone else who left is sleeping even Aurora? WTH? Leah Pipes did not want to leave!! I hate these stupid writers It seems TO is following the same route of TVD >the trash can!
She was the only character I truly loved on the show and the only character I could consistently root for. Really can’t watch the show anymore knowing she is gone for good. What’s even more hurtful is that she had a very exciting storyline in works which the writers decided to cut short for reasons I’ll never understand. How great it would have been if Cami & Hayley had together searched for the cure instead of just Hayley!
My love of the show died with Cami’s pointless and imo unnecessary death. She was the heart, soul and moral compass of the show for me – now it’s just a monster story I won’t be watching any more.
Love Camille Ō’ Connell character. I was hoping She continues her Uncle’s legacy. Expound more on those dark objects she inherited.
Make her a survivor, instead of a victim of revenge. With her Psychology degree, She can be the Peacemaker between the supernatural & spokeperson for humans. Sad that her character was killed off.
