Tell-Tale TV Picks of the Week: Badass Moments from Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Blindspot, and Wynonna Earp

Tell-Tale TV Picks of the Week

This week on TV, Brooklyn Nine-Nine ended it’s third season with a rescue mission, while  Supergirl, and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend wrapped up their first seasons. Containment began its fight to contain and cure a deadly virus.

Orphan Black gave all of us nightmares with that maggot/worm looking thing that some people have inside their cheeks. Did anyone else find themselves touching the inside of their cheek with their tongue to make sure they weren’t carrying around a worm?

Below, some of our writers discuss their picks from this week in TV.

Badass Moment

Christine: Everyone in the precinct coming together to save Captain Holt on Brooklyn Nine-Nine. The Captain was being held hostage at the hospital, and in a silly rag-tag (but still kind of bad-ass), way they managed to save him from Bob Anderson, and Figgis’s other bad guys.

Does anyone else watch Brooklyn Nine-Nine? If not, please start.

Lauren: What do you do when an art thief busts in on you stealing their stolen art? Well, if you’re Weller and Reade on this week’s Blindspot you hold a painting and hope a gun doesn’t go off in your face.

If you’re Allison and Jane, you tag team and kick the butt of the man with a sword. Score one for the ladies!

Allison: Doc Holliday proving that he is actually Doc Holliday on Wynonna Earp. He’s a damn good shot and a bit of a showoff, but I’m not complaining. He held the gun upside down, behind his back, and he didn’t even look at the target when he fired off a couple of those shots.

I mean, damn. It made me fall in love with Doc and his sass even more, and I’m so on board the Doc and Wynonna ship.

Character of the Week

Lizzie: Kara Danvers, on Supergirl. As disappointed as I was by the seemingly picture-perfect finale that Supergirl gave us after all that buildup, I can still appreciate Kara Danvers in all her glory.

She’s a hero, plain and simple, and she’s the role model little girls need to believe they can be heroes themselves. That’s big.

Christine: Titus Andromedon on Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt! I have been so sorely missing him.

I’m only up to episode 5, but watching his developing relationship with Mikey is so much fun and such a different side of Titus that we’ve not yet seen. I’m loving every minute of it!

Lauren: I’ve got to give it to Kendall Malone on Orphan Black. She made me laugh this week when she got out of the delivery truck and grumbled about the eighteen hour flight.

She also made me tear out when Scott found out her white blood count is low. She’s dying of leukemia and doesn’t want Siobhan to know because she’s just regained her daughter’s trust! Bittersweet story, but for a woman who was tough as nails last season, it was nice to see her softer side.

Allison: Brian Finch on Limitless. He may no longer be with the FBI, but that doesn’t stop him from helping figure out how all this NZT got on the street. Brian takes NZT and risks potentially suffering the horrible side effects in order to work this case.

Let’s face it, without him, the CJC would be screwed. He makes the real progress and figures out that Sands is playing all of them.

Storyline We Could’ve Done Without

Lizzie: Anything and everything that has to do with Kendra Saunders, in Legends of Tomorrow, but especially the whole contrived engagement storyline. We all know some version of Carter is going to show up at some point and this whole relationship is going to implode.

Moreover, we don’t even care as it is. Do we really have to watch this train wreck?

Christine: Greg ruining EVERYTHING on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. Listen, I get that Rebecca and Josh would be endgame if there wasn’t a second season coming. I do. But I LOVE underdog stories and Greg was as underdog as they come. Watching him descend into drunkenness felt like the writers kicking the underdog when he was already down to begin with. There HAD to be another way to get to that ending that didn’t completely destroy Greg.

That being said, I thought the finale ended on the perfect note, and I can’t wait for season 2!

Allison: Alex accusing Ryan of messing with Drew, again, on Quantico. This Ryan and Alex drama is getting old, and it’s not entertaining at all. All it’s doing is make Alex look like a whiny, self involved person who thinks her ex has nothing better to do than be jealous of the new guy she’s with.

This drama has made me start to dislike Alex quite a bit, and there was a strong urge to slap her when she yelled at Ryan about Drew’s application being pulled for review.

Allison is in a love affair with television that doesn't seem to be letting up anytime soon. Slightly damaged fictional characters are her weakness. She loves to spend her free time curled up with a cat and a show to binge-watch. Allison is a Tomatometer-approved critic (Rotten Tomatoes).
