iZombie Review: Pour Some Sugar, Zombie (Season 2 Episode 16)
Being an exotic dancer attracts all sorts of things: money, adoration, and fame. Unfortunately it also attracts jealousy, powerful people, and crime. This week’s episode of iZombie had one girl experience all of these before meeting her maker in “Pour Some Sugar, Zombie.”
Let’s talk about it!
iZombie continues to dominate hearts and generate laughs because of its lead. Rose McIver shows us that no matter what’s thrown at her she’s got it in the bag. Case in point, Liv on exotic dancer brains. She might not look like one to throw it down but she certainly did! Her lap-dance with Peyton did not hold an ounce of embarrassment and her one liners were blunt and temperamental reactions to her surroundings.
Liv absorbs every ounce of the person whose brain she nibbles on and makes it her own. All parts are facets of Liv. Without experiencing these memories she could have still been the uptight, overachieving, and secluded woman of her past.
Majors late night activities are no longer a secret! For weeks Ravi’s been noticing a change in his roommate, something consuming him and making him a twitchy version of himself. Ignoring it all came to an end when the stakes were elevated with the cured rats. Ravi is more than hurt at his discovery. He’s petrified at his inability to spot the danger lurking under his own roof and near Liv.
Ravi feels like he let Liv down because he thought Major was safe. Even if he learns the truth from Major it’ll never be the same. A bond has been severed and it’s going to be hard as hell to get it back. The way that Ravi’s voice cracks during the confrontation is proof enough that Major’s deception hit him deep.
Peyton joining Liv on a case seems like a dream come true, best friends catching the bad guy together, and solving it all with the power of teamwork. In reality it’s a stiff and uncomfortable journey full of zombie misconceptions. She has no understanding of what Liv is going through and needs to make a better effort at treating her as more than a lab rat.
Liv and Peyton aren’t best friends anymore. The time apart has made them into different women who will never fully understand each other. Ravi is Liv’s best friend, not Peyton. Now that Peyton’s moved in, they must face this new reality before rebuilding what’s left of their relationship.
Drake has always been full of surprises. This episode he continues the tradition when we find out he’s an undercover cop. It shakes Liv and makes her backtrack over every moment, experience, and doubt she’s had about the man, well zombie if we’re being technical here. What began as a fling and some fun, has developed into a relationship Liv wants to explore despite his connections to Mr. Boss. That’s why all these discoveries have been so painful. He understands her and supplies a passion that isn’t wild or overwhelming. It’s liberating. Let’s hope she holds on and doesn’t let it go!
Best Lines by Exotic Dancer Liv
- “Hey, you in the stall! You’re gonna flip me in the grill with your cheap ass, wannabe, Arianna Grande clip on and then just hide in the bathroom?”
- “There’s gonna be a discernible carbon footprint on your ass, if you don’t cut the crap.”
Life Lesson From Episode: You never truly know someone. Not the person you’re sleeping with, you’re best friend, or the people you’re doing business with. Be wary and keep your eyes open.
