Tell-Tale TV Picks of the Week: The 100 and Agent Carter Return

Tell-Tale TV Picks of the Week: The 100 and Agent Carter Return

Tell-Tale TV Picks of the Week

This week on TV featured the returns of some of our faves, including  Agent Carter and The 100, while Freeform introduced people to the world of Shadowhunters with mixed results. Supergirl and Scorpion both had a visit from estranged dads, and  Arrow and The Flash both received bad news.

Here’s what some of our writers had to say about this week in TV.

Best Moment

Christine: The return of Agent Carter! That opening fight scene in the bank between Peggy and Dottie was incredible and it ended with Peggy clocking her in the head with a sack of coins! What could be a more perfect way for a bank fight to end?!

Allison: The carpool karaoke moment on The 100. When was the last time those lovable dorks were happy? Seriously, I can’t remember. It was such a fun and lighthearted moment, and I was in shock that it was happening. I hope to see some more levity from my favorite delinquents.

Caralynn: Stealing Allison’s answer! Monty, Miller, Raven, Jasper, and Bellamy singing along to “Add It Up” on The 100 was such an unexpectedly sweet and casual moment in a show that’s very often one of the darkest on TV. The actors are also all incredible, so it genuinely looked like they were having a blast.

Ashley: I have to go with Kelsey’s perfect speech on Younger, thanks to some help from Liza. Kelsey has been consistently underestimated, so this was just such an awesome moment — especially since she pulled it off in a slip! Plus, it was Liza’s wisdom that got her through it.

Funniest Moment

Christine: Peralta and Captain Holt’s mumps fight on Brooklyn Nine-Nine. They just kept poking at each other’s goiters and taking shots of cold medicine. It was over-the-top funny in the best possible way!

Allison: Blake freaking out over that 2030 report on Madam Secretary. It was absolutely hilarious, and no one seemed to take him or that report seriously, which made it better. He freaked out during the nightmare brunch with Henry and his neighbors. I just spent the entire hour wanting to give Blake a hug.

Caralynn: I’m going to go with funny in the unintentional sense and choose every moment of Isabella flirting with Simon on this week’s Shadowhunters. Oh my god, it is so uncomfortable to watch. She’s such a caricature of a flirty “bad girl,” it’s just awful.

Ashley: Mine comes from Teachers. This show is so hilarious!  Ms. Feldman is sitting alone, eating her pizza with her drawn in “surprised face” eyebrows, and Ms. Snap just thinks she’s genuinely surprised by everything she said. I laughed SO hard.

Most Shocking Moment

Christine: Castiel allowing Lucifer to use him as his vessel on Supernatural! First of all, like, what is Castiel thinking? Secondly, I LOVE seeing Mischa Collins acting as Mark Pellegrino’s Lucifer. This plot twist is totally shocking, but I’m so excited to see it play out!

Allison: Kira’s mom changing her mind about letting Kira stay with the skin walkers on Teen Wolf. I was stunned that before Kira goes off to take the test, her mom said that even if Kira had to become a skin walker permanently, it would be okay because it meant that Kira would still be alive and herself – the demon fox wouldn’t have control of her. Cut to after Kira failed the test, and her mom’s pulling out a sword saying, “not my daughter you b*tch.” Okay, she didn’t say that in those exact words, but you get my point. Lady, make up your mind!

Caralynn: Tom Branson and his daughter Sybbie showing up during Carson and Mrs. Hughes’ wedding reception on Downton Abbey! That was shocking in a happy way. I love Branson. It was a little weird for them to show up right in the middle of the reception and interrupt Carson’s romantic speech, I was so glad to have him back. Also, it was a little shocking to see how much weight he’d gained. He looked very… round-faced.

Ashley: Everything that happened on The 100! So much has changed for everyone since the last time we saw them, and I’m really looking forward to seeing what happens moving forward.

Allison is in a love affair with television that doesn't seem to be letting up anytime soon. Slightly damaged fictional characters are her weakness. She loves to spend her free time curled up with a cat and a show to binge-watch. Allison is a Tomatometer-approved critic (Rotten Tomatoes).
