The Originals Review: Out of the Easy (Season 3 Episode 7)
This episode of The Originals, titled “Out of the Easy,” is a tale about the lies, deceit, and betrayal that come to a head during Thanksgiving dinner. All of them are on the same page for the first time ever.
Let’s talk about it!
Thanksgiving is a way to turn things. It’s like watching two children being caught working together to steal all the cookies from the jar. And they’re so sneaky and cocky about the mayhem and destruction they’ve caused. They keep boasting about the fact that they have the upper-hand. It doesn’t matter if they do. This is The Originals, not The Progenies. In a story where it’s all about family, and no one dies, these ‘children’ aren’t going to get far with their mischief. Let’s see what Lucien, Tristan, and Aurora will do now that both of their daddies have put their foot down.
Klaus and Aurora are boring and abysmal. There is no spark and no reason to watch their drab story unfold. DVR anyone? She’s wearing rose colored glasses when fornicating, and sweet smiles are enough to garner goodwill.
By kidnapping Rebekah, she has assured that the act continues (well, until Tristan is taken hostage). It’s not going to stop her from being jealous, though. As soon as Camille is mentioned, her hackles raise, and she looks ready for answers — which Klaus isn’t going to give to these weak progenies.
On the eve of all this deceit and betrayal being exposed, Hayley takes a stand and remains loyal. Despite her husband’s worries she feels like she needs to repay Rebekah for her kindness. This is what separates Hayley from the rest of the Mikaelson family. She has a code and follows through no matter how bad it could get. Her willingness to leave Jackson and Hope is a hard but worthwhile choice to her.
To Jackson it’s a betrayal. They’re married now and have decided to push forward in life as a unit. Hayley didn’t respect that when she decided to go over to the Mikaelsons.
Other Observations:
- Aurora’s horrible hair during the Christmas party, seems to be a running thing on the show. When in doubt, pull out a big wig probably used on Arrow and Supernatural.
- Who decorates for the Mikaelson’s? The atmosphere in the courtyard of the main house is magnificent!
- For all the crap that Aurora gave Elijah for taking away her free will, she’s done the same with Rebekah. Instead of working with her or even trying to stay by her side, she locked her up and threw her into the sea. Hypocrite, seat for one.
- Camille reveals how badass she is when she cuts off her nanny’s finger. She also reveals what we’ve known for ages, Klaus has a soft spot for Camille.
The Originals are weaving their own deaths with every step forward. Without a doubt they will survive it.

Yes Cami always doing what she can to survive. Klaus’ freak out when Cami was missing was everything. But I think Lucien has more up his sleeves. He’s the wild card.
