iZombie: Quick Guide To Prepare for Season 2
With everyday that creeps by we’re one step closer to the fall premiere you’ve been aching for all summer, that one show that left you on the edge of your seat and made you want to build a time machine just to get to it! Of course there are other shows that creep on the edge of your mind, that you wished you had time to watch because the season premiere trailer looks oh so fantastic.
That trailer that I’m talking about is the second season of iZombie.
That’s where I come in, again.
Below, I have put together a quick study guide to get you caught up on iZombie. Please note that, while I don’t plan on giving all the spoilers away, this guide will have pertinent information about Season 1.
Let’s begin!
General Premise
A medical resident ends up with an appetite for brains after a fun night out on a boat party. Her new zombie existence makes her world collapse around her: she breaks off her engagement, ends her social life, and becomes a recluse; getting brains from the morgue. Things shift for Liv when she finds out that her lust for brains can actually help her solve crimes.
She latches onto that and discovers life after death. She also discovers she’s not the only one and maybe this might not all be a coincidence. Max Rager, a manufacturer of energy drinks, becomes the lead suspect and creator of the members of Team Z.
Main Characters
Olivia ‘Liv’ Moore: Our leading lady went from ace medical resident to purposeless zombie hiding away at the morgue. Like all other zombies, she sees visions from the brains she eats. Her life changes when she uses what Detective Babineaux assumes are her psychic abilities to solve crimes. With every brain she eats she discovers new things about herself.
Current enemies are Blaine, the man who turned her and Max Rager, the ones responsible for the outbreak. Previously engaged to Major and ex-girlfriend of Lowell.
Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti: Liv’s best friend and the first person to confront her about her late night brain eating habits. He is curious, helpful and incredibly funny. Works on a cure for Liv’s condition and ends up dating Peyton for a time.
Detective Clive Babineaux: Liv’s partner in the police department. Willing to believe in psychic abilities if it means they solve crimes. Dependable, frank, and sarcastic. Helps Major investigate the disappearances of homeless youth. With every investigation he comes one step closer to finding out about zombies.
Major Lilywhite: Ex-fiance of Liv. Tiptoed around Liv for months before they became friends again. Became aware of the epidemic in his city while investigating the disappearance of homeless youth he worked with. Was injured, turned into a zombie, and had the cure used on him.
Blaine DeBeers: Businessman who turns his clients into zombies so they can buy his brains. Turned Liv at the boat party and has been circling her investigations for weeks. Killed Lowell and homeless youth. Was given the cure by Liv.
Supporting Characters
Peyton Charles: Liv’s roommate and best friend for years. For months she tried to bring friend out of her post-zombie slump, with no success. She continuously supported her friend and eventually dated Ravi. When she found out the truth about Liv, she ran and has not been heard from since.
Lowell Tracey: Smooth, smart, and rich rock and roll and star who was turned into a zombie by Blaine. For the longest time he just cruised along eating any brains for sale. He started dating Liv and could no longer ignore what was going on around him. Was killed by Blaine when he tried to make a stand.
Eva Moore: Liv’s mother. Very concerned and overbearing when it comes to her daughter. Along with Peyton, she has tried for months to understand her daughter’s sudden shift in life. Asked Liv to donate blood without knowing she was a zombie.
Evan Moore: Liv’s younger brother. Curious by nature and willing to spend more time with his sister. Applied for a job at Blaine’s place of business. When he returned to inquire about the job, he was severely injured in the finale explosion.
Season 2 and On
This new season will explore the zombie epidemic origins and the ripple effect of Liv’s decisions. Will her brother survive? Did the cure work on Major? Will Blaine enjoy his new love for food for a couple weeks before he jumps on the Team Z bandwagon again? I bet you’ve got a question or two brewing that you could drop in our comments section below.
These and many more will be answered when iZombie returns to The CW Tuesday, October 6th at 9/8c.
