Blood & Oil: 5 Reasons You Should Watch ABC’s New Drama (Plus Photos!)

Blood & Oil, Previews

It’s new show time! One of the most exciting new series this fall is ABC’s Blood & Oil. It’s got a lot of promise (money, drama, beautiful people? yes, please).

The show follows a young couple as they head out to North Dakota to open Laundromats. Except, fate steps in and they end up getting into the oil game. Needless to say, the oil game is ruthless and major drama ensues.

Below are five reasons why you should give it a chance when it premieres on Sunday.

1. Chace Crawford with a southern accent – I don’t feel like I need to explain this. If you don’t get it, Google pictures of him and then imagine adding a southern accent. Am I right?

2. The Wild West – I mean, I did not know that North Dakota was such a party. Our protagonists show up to a wild bar fight and end up living in a camp ground for awhile (with a whole bunch of other people who are trying to strike it rich). There are also, of course, very wealthy people in the town. Some of whom behave very badly. Trust me, it’s entertaining. Oh, and North Dakota is legitimately beautiful.

3. Old money versus new – Because fortunes are won and lost so quickly in an oil town, old money (and power) constantly butt heads with new money. Each entrepreneur who comes to town has more tricks than the last, and it takes everything those who are established have to keep in the game. Without giving anything away, the first episode involves guns, long distance sprinting, more than one steamy love scene, and a fancy black tie party. Oh, and a black sheep rich kid, of course.

4. Twists and suspense – You think you know what this show is about, but you don’t. Things change pretty quickly, which makes for a lot of stressful suspense. In a good way.

5. Pushing Mud – It seems that starting at the bottom in the oil business involves literally pushing mud around in a field. Chace Crawford does this. I’m not mad at it.

Fine, two of my reasons are about Chace Crawford. But still, tune in Sunday for the premiere if you like drama. I promise Blood & Oil delivers plenty of it.
