Nashville Season Finale Review: Before You Go Make Sure You Know (Season 3 Episode 22)

Nashville, Reviews

Well, the season finale of Nashville: titled “Before You Go Make Sure You Know,” made all my dreams come true. But did Deacon’s? This cliff hanger is killing me. Spoiler alert!

Let’s start with my dreams:

Someone finally smashed Jeff’s windshield with a golf club — It’s about time. Jeff has gone completely off the deep end with his surveillance of Layla. He won’t even let her answer her own phone or go on the Internet. He tells her he’s just trying to protect her, but when he’s not in the room she gets a message from Rayna that tells her otherwise and she figures out that he’s the one who tweeted about Jade’s party. So she smashes his windshield. Unfortunately, she also forgives him. Since we also found out that he has power of attorney over her, I’m guessing he’s probably going to have her committed or something.

Crazy Juliette is back for reals — Juliette is continuing to refuse help from Avery or her friends. Instead she drops Rayna’s label and goes to Jeff for help releasing her album. If that isn’t enough, she throws a snow globe at Avery while he’s holding the baby. I’m guessing next season we will see a lot of the old Juliette. Poor Avery, though.

NASHVILLE - "Before You Go Make Sure You Know" - Juliette is laser-focused on finishing her album - and when she puts everything and everyone she loves behind it - Avery makes a decision that impacts their lives forever. Deacon's life hangs in the balance, but Rayna and the girls are by his side. With the clock ticking and the future uncertain, will they celebrate a life together? The season finale of "Nashville" airs WEDNESDAY, MAY 13 (10:00-11:00 p.m. ET) on the ABC Television Network. (ABC/Mark Levine) HAYDEN PANETTIERE, JONATHAN JACKSON

Will gets to say ‘I love you’ — When the tabloids get some pics of Will and Kevin vacationing in the mountains together, it looks like he’s going to continue his denials. Especially since his extremely homophobic dad is in town. But then, at the last minute, he comes out to the reporters and goes home and tells Kevin he loves him. This is a big deal, since he never thought he’d get to love someone. Not gonna lie, I got a little misty.

Scarlett and Gunnar — Hot doc (I still refuse to learn his name) asks Scarlett to move in with him and she says yes. But then he’s up late sexting with Gunnar. Okay, not sexting per se, she’s sending song lyrics, but the look in her eyes told me that it would be sexting soon enough. Oh, and they kiss at the hospital… while her boyfriend is saving her uncle’s life. Oops.

Teddy takes responsibility — The feds give Teddy the option to talk in exchange for his freedom, but that would mean implicating Rayna in some shady financing deals. He finally decides to stop destroying his family and turns himself in instead. Finally.

Southern Hospitality — My last dream was my biggest. I really wanted another “You’re losing daylight” line from the finale. And I got it! While Rayna is talking to Deacon’s crazy sister she shuts the conversation down by saying “get you some sleep.” Love. It.

Unfortunately, Deacon has been having some dreams of his own. He’s been dreaming, now that his sis agreed to the transplant, that he’s going to die during the procedure. These dreams are so vivid (and full of music that would fit better on Mad Men, don’t you think?) that he basically spends the entire episode saying goodbye. He even makes Rayna say marriage vows with him at the hospital. Rayna tells him these dreams are silly, but at the very end of the episode we see a heart monitor flatline and hot doc comes to tell Rayna some bad news. But is it Deacon or is is sissy??

I guess we have to wait until the fall to find out.
