The 100 Review: Resurrection (Season 2 Episode 13)

This episode of The 100 probably should have come with a violence warning, but I guess there’s no use crying over spilled blood.

Right away in “Resurrection,” we’re thrown into the catastrophe that’s still raging at Ton DC. Clarke, Lexa, and Lincoln head off to take out a sniper who’s picking off survivors, in the trees, and I have to admit… that was my least favorite plot of the night. Not all that exciting.

Far more interesting is the fight for survival inside Mount Weather, as a group of rag tag teenagers go up against the new President and his army. Cage might have underestimated these kiddos though because they put up a damn good fight. More than once, I found myself thinking, “Can they actually show that on TV?” Meanwhile, Bellamy and Maya attempt to keep their friends alive at any costs. I do love the friendship developing between those two, and I hope we get to see more of it before the season it out.

Octavia’s mission to unite the remaining Grounders in Ton DC was also a fast-paced adventure. With Indra injured, the chief position falls to her second: Octavia.

But there’s the pesky little problem of none of the Grounders respecting or listening to a Sky Person. Eventually, Octavia earns their respect and trust when she organizes a rescue party for people trapped under the rubble. The regiment of Arkers that come to help don’t hurt her cause either.

Down in said rubble, Abby tries to save Kane’s life – and leg – before he’s crushed by falling debris.

The scene between these two was absolutely the best of the night. Abby is still reeling from the news that Clarke allowed the bomb to hit Ton DC as a military strategy, but Kane’s reaction to the news is actually my favorite. In a moment of horrifying wisdom, Kane realizes that whatever Clarke is, they created her.

Kane: “Because she grew up on the Ark. She learned what to do from us.”

The Ark and its confining system of laws and trigger happy executions created an entire civilization that – for better or worse – favors the good of the many over the good of the one. That’s a heavy burden to bear for anyone, and it puts Clarke’s decision into a bit of perspective.

Another beautifully executed move was the emergence of a revolutionary group within Mount Weather. The concept of Grounder transfusions has become so normal in our minds that is was actually a shock to realize that some people inside the mountain might not have been totally on board with those practices, life-saving as they were.

These protesters house and hide the 40 or so surviving Ark kids, preventing Cage from killing them for their bone marrow.

War is definitely brewing in these last few episodes of the season. We can only hope that Bellamy’s mission on the inside and Clarke’s army on the outside will finally be able to free the prisoners inside Mount Weather.
