Tracker Season 3 Episode 8 Review: Eurydice

Reviews, Tracker

Tracker Season 3 Episode 8, “Eurydice,” depicts the show at its best with a narrative that explores motherhood, family, and justice.

“Eurydice” has everything a stellar episode should: jaw-dropping plot twists, fan-favorite riveting dynamics, and classic action scenes.

Tracker Season 3 Episode 8 follows a case involving a toddler, Aubrey, who has been missing for a year. It’s the ideal setup to cover the themes “Eurydice” sets to explore.

At first, the case seems clear-cut. Aubrey’s mother, Sierra, is the police department’s primary suspect, but Colter will get to the bottom of the case by finding the true culprit and clearing Sierra’s name.

However, “Eurydice” quickly raises the stakes with every narrative twist in Aubrey’s disappearance. Nothing is as it seems as more people become involved, turning a straightforward investigation into a much bigger story.

A particularly surprising twist involves Colter discovering that Aubrey could still be alive. It is also somewhat unrealistic because kidnapped children who remain missing for more than 72 hours have most likely been killed (via ABC News).

Of course, there are exceptions, such as Jaycee Dugard, but for the most part, a child who has been missing for a year is likely dead.

Despite the improbability of Aubrey being alive, Tracker makes it believable by turning Aubrey’s story into one about family, responsibility, and love.

Aubrey is alive because her grandparents wholeheartedly believe that Sierra is an unfit mother, and they take drastic measures to ensure their granddaughter’s safety.

This factor makes Aubrey’s disappearance a complex custodial issue. That issue is between a mother who is also a recovering addict (and was not sober when Aubrey disappeared) and grandparents who kidnap their own grandchild, then frame Sierra to ensure Aubrey has a stable home to live in.

Tracker beautifully illustrates the complicated family dynamics in which all the adults involved make grievous mistakes, but they still love Aubrey.

Colter: I suppose sometimes people do the wrong things for the right reasons.

Her grandparents’ actions may not always be legal, but that does not mean they love Aubrey less.

Sierra initially struggles with addiction, but her daughter’s disappearance forces her to reevaluate her life and actively choose to enter recovery and become sober to be a better mother and a better person.

While attempting to find Aubrey, Colter also races against the clock because the police arrest and charge Aubrey for her daughter’s kidnapping.

It ultimately leads Colter to exercise the skills his father taught him as the narrative thrusts Colter into perilous scenarios.

It is always fun to watch Colter in action, whether he is wrestling a dangerous man to the ground or fighting to survive while someone repeatedly shoots at him.

Tracker would not be what it is without Justin Hartley on the move, fighting bad guys while searching for the truth. This episode certainly delivers in this department.

Reenie and Colter also interact face-to-face for the first time in several episodes, a pleasant and welcome surprise.

Even though it only lasts for a few moments, it is still a highlight on “Eurydice.”

It is rare to see Colter and Reenie in the same room, especially since Colter is always traveling and Reenie remains at her office. Most of their interactions occur over the phone.

“Eurydice” finally changes this pattern when Colter and Reenie meet up at the end of the episode to comfort Sierra.

Reenie: I’ve seen a lot in my line of work, some I wish I hadn’t, and one thing that I know for sure: recovery is not linear.

This scene is quite short and primarily focuses on Sierra and her plan to regain full custody of Aubrey. However, Colter and Reenie’s chemistry is still intense and undeniable after almost three seasons.

It is unknown if the writers of Tracker plan to do something with their chemistry, but in the meantime, their scenes are a delicious treat to indulge in.

Colter and Reenie’s scene completes one of the best episodes on Tracker Season 3 to date.
