Ted Lasso Season 4: Everything We Know So Far

Features, Ted Lasso

After a long wait, Ted Lasso is finally returning, but this time, it doesn’t seem like we’re going back to AFC Richmond.

Apple TV+ confirmed that this cherished comedy has been ordered for a Season 4, a decision that has received mixed reactions from fans. It also seems like creator Jason Sudeikis is planning to take the show in a completely new direction, leaving fans wondering what future episodes of the show will look like.

Here’s everything we know so far about Ted Lasso Season 4.

Season 3 ended with Ted and Coach Beard boarding a plane to return to America. While Ted Lasso is saying goodbye to the Grayhounds, the beloved coach doesn’t seem to be leaving England just yet. According to the official logline for Season 4, the show will follow Ted as he returns to Richmond to coach a second division women’s football team.

Admittedly, it’s a little heartbreaking that the team we’ve all invested so much time in won’t be the primary focus of the season. However, this is an excellent opportunity for the show to bring in new characters and cover plenty of new stories.

Plus, if there’s anything to take away from the first three seasons of Ted Lasso, it’s that Ted’s kindness has changed the team, and they can surely find success on their own now.

It also seems that some parts of the season will take place in Ted’s home region of the Midwest. The Ted Lasso filming crew has already been spotted around Kansas City, stirring up speculation that there will be a few scenes of Ted back in the United States.

The central star of the show, Jason Sudeikis, has been confirmed to return as both the lead actor and as an executive producer. Furthermore, original cast members Brett Goldstein, Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brendan Hunt, and Jeremy Swift will be a part of Season 4’s cast as well.

This means the show’s keeping some of the best on-screen friendships—Keeley & Rebecca and Coach Beard & Ted Lasso—a part of the series. On the flip side, the Richmond Greyhound team spirit won’t be seen anytime soon, with Phil Dunster confirming that he won’t be back as Jamie Tartt.

With the exit of AFC Richmond players, Ted Lasso has ushered in new cast members, including Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Haynes, Aisling Sharkey, and Abbie Hern. Additionally, Grant Feely was announced to take over the role of Ted’s son, Henry Lasso.

The roles of these new cast members haven’t been announced yet, so it seems like we’ll have to wait and see what the show has in store for us!

What do I need to remember about Ted Lasso Season 3?

As mentioned before, Ted Lasso Season 4 is starting on a new page. So, there’s honestly not a ton needed to remember from previous seasons before watching Season 4. However, there are a few storylines from Season 3 that might come into play.

One plotline Season 4 could address is the Roy/Keeley/Jamie love triangle. Though Season 3 ended on Keeley rejecting both Roy and Jamie, there’s a possibility that Keeley and Roy might reconnect since both Brett Goldstein and Juno Temple are returning.

With Jamie out of the photo, it seems like Roy and Keeley might have a chance at being endgame after all. Or Keeley could continue her reign as a strong, independent woman.

Another central storyline from Ted Lasso Season 3 was Ted’s divorce from his wife. Given that Ted’s son was recast, Season 4 will definitely cover Ted’s familial troubles and give us a look into how his loved ones in Kansas have been doing in his absence.

Last but not least, in the Ted Lasso Season 3 finale, Coach Beard and Jane are seen getting married. While many fans theorized that this was a dream sequence, Jason Sudeikis confirmed that it had already happened. So, we might also get to see how married life is treating Coach Beard.

When is Ted Lasso Season 4 coming out?

Season 4 was confirmed last August, and production started this summer in Kansas City, with additional filming set to take place in London. The production timeline has yet to be made public, so it’s unclear how long they’ll be filming for.

While no release date has been set officially, we can reasonably assume that Ted Lasso will come out sometime in 2026, perhaps around summer or fall. Until then, we’ll just have to keep our eyes peeled for any additional news from Apple TV+ about their most iconic comedy show.
