Suits: LA Season 1 Episode 13 Review: Freedom
Suits: LA Season 1 Episode 13, “Freedom,” delivers a thrilling final outing to an otherwise satisfactory season.
Making sure to end on a high note, “Freedom” works to tie up any loose ends while connecting these characters on a level yet unseen. It’s one of the series’s best episodes, perfectly putting a cap on the season.
As one final case, Samantha enlists Ted’s help to go after Avery Jeffers, a scummy producer equated to being the Hollywood mob boss.
Meanwhile, Ted has Erica handle business for one of his clients, putting her head-to-head with Rick in negotiations. Stuart works behind Ted’s back to bring him a gift he isn’t aware he needs.

A Final Hoorah!
Bringing Ted and Samantha together to tackle the equivalent of a mob boss makes for a captivating hour.
Not only does their team-up bring them a step closer to reuniting, but it also allows the show to use characters that have otherwise been put on the back burner for most of the season.
Ted’s support is an excellent motivator to get the ball rolling, but Rosalyn and Marvin are crucial factors in their success.

Having previously worked under Jeffers as the head of his HR, Marvin comes to the rescue with receipts of complaints going back at least a decade. The final key to bringing down Jeffers is Rosalyn revealing that he tried to sexually assault her, a traumatic event that has haunted her for years.
Serving as characters primarily utilized to aid Ted in much smaller aspects, it’s remarkable to see Rosalyn and Marvin’s characters utilized one last time in such a vital aspect.
Elizabeth Smith is their smoking gun in the battle against Jeffers. Despite initially being against helping Ted, she comes around, working to ensure Jeffers never has an ounce of power again once she’s finished with him.

Smith’s support and sentiment in seeking only to destroy Jeffers, no matter what, is the final push, forcing him to cede to their advances. Ultimately, he’s stripped of all his power and loses control over hundreds.
The cherry on top is Smith putting him on the national sex offender registry, ensuring he’s never put in another position of power.

No More Denying Feelings
While Ted works alongside Samantha to take down Jeffers, Erica handles negotiations for him regarding Sean Baker. Through that, Erica must sit face-to-face with Rick and Dylan Pryor.
It’s a blood battle between the two as Pryor works to acquire fifty percent of the earnings behind Baker’s upcoming film. That is until they come up with another plan, effectively screwing over the writer of the film and what compensation she gets.

Erica and Rick’s will-they-wont-they situation was fun at moments and could have been something to follow in later seasons, but it’s a smart move for Suits: LA to have them end up together.
After playing cat and mouse all season, it’s nice to have that closure between the two characters in the final goodbye.

In Eddie’s Memory
While this outing for Suits: LA is a smash of a finale, it’s a bit disappointing that Amanda and Stuart aren’t provided the same screen time as others.
However, the sparse moments the two are on screen are monumental in their own ways. Without informing Ted, Stuart asks Kevin to help him perform a sentimental deed that will bring joy to many.
In the final moments of “Freedom,” Stuart reveals to Ted that he used his father’s estate money to rename and expand the park where he and Eddie used to play growing up.
After spending all season focusing on the loss of his life, Suits: LA provides a proper and satisfying resolution to Eddie’s storyline.
